    Abstract: A method for video encoding includes determining whether coding of a current block in an IBC prediction mode is performed in an explicit mode or an implicit mode based on whether a difference exists between a block vector and a corresponding block vector predictor. The current block is part of a current picture to be coded. The method further includes constructing a block vector predictor candidate list for the current block, the block vector predictor candidate list having a first number of block vector predictor candidates in the implicit mode, and having a second number of block vector predictor candidates in the explicit mode. The method further includes selecting a block vector predictor candidate from the constructed block vector predictor candidate list and encoding the current block according to the selected block vector predictor candidate.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video decoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry receiving prediction information of a plurality of blocks in a current picture from a coded video bitstream. The processing circuitry determines, based on the prediction information, whether at least one of a decoder-side motion vector refinement (DMVR) mode or a bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) mode is allowed for the plurality of blocks. If the DMVR mode or the BDOF mode is allowed for the plurality of blocks, the processing circuitry determines that a plurality of merge with motion vector difference (MMVD) merge flags indicating whether a MMVD mode is applied to the plurality of blocks, respectively, is inferred as false for the plurality of blocks. If the plurality of MMVD merge flags is inferred as false, the processing circuitry reconstructs each block in the plurality of blocks without applying the MMVD mode.

An apparatus includes processing circuitry that partitions a current block of a current picture based on a geometric partitioning mode (GPM). The current block is partitioned into two partitions in the GPM mode. Each of the partitions is associated with a respective predictor. A weighting index for a sample of the current block is determined based on a position of the sample. A weighting factor is calculated based on the weighting index of the sample according to an equation that converts the weighting index to the weighting factor. The sample is encoded based on the weighting factor and the predictor corresponding to the sample.

For example, the processing circuitry receives a video sequence and metadata associated with the video sequence. The video sequence includes a sequence of picture frames generated in response to gaming control information, and the metadata is determined based on the gaming control information. The processing circuitry can determine, based on the metadata, an encoding configuration for encoding the video sequence. Then the processing circuitry encodes, based on the encoding configuration, the video sequence into a coded video bitstream.
