Abstract: Flame resistant fabrics that comply with applicable thermal requirements (e.g., char length, after flame, thermal shrinkage, etc.) but only include thermally stable fibers in yarns extending in a single fabric direction (warp or weft). The yarns extending in the other direction (warp or weft) are devoid of thermally stable fibers.

Abstract: Textiles are provided that include fibrous cellulosic materials having an α-cellulose content of less than about 93%, the fibrous materials being spun, woven, knitted, or entangled. The fibrous cellulosic materials can be irradiated with a dose of ionizing radiation that is sufficient to increase the molecular weight of the cellulosic materials without causing significant depolymerization of the cellulosic materials. Methods of treating textiles that include irradiating the textiles are also provided.

Abstract: A three-dimensional lattice includes a stabilizing grid having grid warp strands and grid weft strands crossing the grid warp strands. Grid cells are defined by adjacent grid warp strands and adjacent grid weft strands intersecting the adjacent grid warp strands. A projecting net has net warp strands and net weft strands crossing the net warp strands. Each subnet in a plurality of subnets uniquely corresponds to a corresponding grid cell. Each subnet includes a net warp strand portion intersecting both of the grid weft strands that define the corresponding grid cell. Each subnet includes a net weft strand portion intersecting both of the grid warp strands that define the corresponding grid cell. The net warp strand portion and the net weft strand portion of each subnet are spaced from a minimum surface defined by the corresponding grid cell.

Abstract: Flame resistant fabrics are formed by warp and fill yarns having different fiber contents. The fabrics are constructed, for example, by selection of a suitable weaving pattern, such that the body side of the fabric and the face side of the fabric have different properties. The fabrics described herein can be printable and dyeable on both sides of the fabric and are suitable for use in military and industrial garments. Methods of forming flame resistant fabrics, and methods for forming garments from the fabrics, are also described.

Abstract: A nonwoven fabric composite includes a spunbond nonwoven fabric layer having a plurality of bonded fibers, an air-laid nonwoven pulp web layer having a plurality of pulp fibers and overlying the spunbond nonwoven fabric layer to cooperatively form an inner laminate with the pulp web layer, and a pair of nonwoven carded fiber web layers each having a plurality of carded fibers. The nonwoven carded fiber web layers sandwich the inner laminate therebetween. The bonded fibers, the pulp fibers, and the carded fibers are entangled with one another. A ratio of tensile strength of the nonwoven fabric composite in a machine direction to tensile strength of the nonwoven fabric composite in a cross-machine direction is not greater than 4.
