    Abstract: Techniques described herein relate to a method for performing pre-backup tasks. The method includes obtaining, by a proxy host, a snapshot request associated with an incremental backup of a file system stored in a network attached storage (NAS) from a backup manager; in response to obtaining the snapshot request: instantiating a NAS container to obtain a snapshot of the file system; providing the snapshot to the NAS container; after providing the snapshot to the NAS container: retrieving a previously generated slice list associated with the file system; identifying, using the slice list, changed data include in the file system; generating change rates associated with each slice; grouping the slices based on the change rates and group criteria to generate slice groups; generating an updated slice list specifying the slices and the slice groups; and providing the updated slice list to the backup manager.

    Abstract: A backup power supply system for managing data backup operation of an electronic device, comprising:
    a DC/DC converter having a main power input and a power output;
    a boost converter having a power input and a power output;
    a thermoelectric generator associated with a chip and electrically connected to the power input of the boost converter, wherein the thermoelectric generator is able to heat or cool the chip;
    a microcontroller electrically connected to the power outputs of the first and the second power converter, and electrically connected to a set of components able to perform data backup operation of the electronic device,
    wherein the microcontroller is configured to determine an electrical energy required to perform data backup operation by the set of components,
    wherein the microcontroller is configured to compute from the determined electrical energy a temperature deviation to reach by the thermoelectric generator, wherein the temperature deviation is the difference between the temperature inside the chip and the ambient temperature of the chip,
    wherein the microcontroller is configured to command the regulation of the temperature inside the chip by means of the thermoelectric generator to reach the temperature deviation,
    wherein the microcontroller is configured to supply electrical energy to the set of components when data backup operation is triggered, the electrical energy being converted from the heat flux of the temperature deviation from the chip.

    Abstract: A cloud-native global file system, in which one or more filers are associated with a volume of a versioned files system in a private, public or hybrid cloud object store, is augmented to include a rapid ransomware recovery service. Upon detecting a ransomware attack associated with one or more files or directories of the volume, read and write access to the volume is restricted. A recovery filer is then activated or designated in the cloud. A restore operation is then initiated at the recovery filter. Following completion of the restore operation, a new clean (healthy) snapshot of the volume is then created using the recovery filer For any filer other than the recovery filer, a determination is made whether the filer has completed a merge operation with respect to the new clean snapshot. If so, read and write access to the volume is re-enabled from that filer.

    Abstract: Computer-readable media, methods, and systems are disclosed for processing backup and recovery of pages in an in-memory database system employing tenant-based, group-level encryption for a plurality of tenants. Page metadata for a page may be collected. The page may comprise a header and a set of page contents. The page metadata may be stored with the page header. When a backup request is received, the page may be loaded into a backup stream. The page may be loaded with the header unencrypted and the page contents encrypted. When a recovery request is received, the data page may be retrieved from the backup stream. A converter may be rebuilt using the page metadata. The data page may then be written to the main memory of the database system. The page contents may be decrypted by the converter.

    Abstract: Techniques for data management are described. A request to mount a version of a database based on data stored at a computing system may be received. Based on receiving the request, a container at the computing that is configured to support operating the version of the database may be configured. Based on creating the container, a database request for the version of the database may be received at the container. In response to the database request, the container may access a set of data stored at the computing system, the set of data being associated with the version of the database. The container may output a response to the database request based on accessing the set of data.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprises at least one processing device configured to identify, utilizing virtualization software running on a storage system, a snapshot lineage comprising snapshots of a storage volume, the snapshot lineage comprising (i) a local snapshot lineage on the storage system and (ii) a cloud snapshot lineage on cloud storage external to the storage system. The processing device is also configured to utilize the virtualization software to select a given snapshot in the cloud snapshot lineage to recover to the local snapshot lineage, to expose a cloud storage volume for the given snapshot, and to map the cloud storage volume to a target local storage volume on the storage system. The processing device is further configured to recover the given snapshot to the local snapshot lineage by utilizing a data mover of the storage system to write data of the given snapshot to the target local storage volume.
