Abstract:
The communication cost for image information transmission from a facsimile machine connected to the international PSTN to an overseas destination is significantly reduced by causing a first repeater Internet facsimile machine installed in the same country as the transmitting machine to perform a repeater operation for transferring the image information to a second repeater Internet facsimile machine installed in the same country as the recipient machine. The cost is reduced because no additional communication charge is incurred for the image information transfer between the repeater Internet facsimile machines.
Abstract:
When an IFAX processing section transmits image information using e-mail, a timer monitoring section starts the count of a timer. After starting the count, a received mail determining section determines whether or not a timeout occurs. Also, the received mail determining section determined whether an error mail of a current job or a DSN of the current job is received. In the case of the timeout, when the notification content of the error mail or the DSN is an abnormal end, a transmission selecting section instructs a FAX control section to transmit an image information file of the current job to a telephone number. Thereafter, the transmission selecting section instructs an image information managing section to erase an image information file corresponding to a file name of the current job. This makes it possible to insure a real-time property as making use of advantages of e-mail.
Abstract:
The present invention selects a channel to be used in facsimile-transmitting image information included in e-mail subjected to relay request in accordance with channel selection information included in said e-mail.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting electronic mail messages in a local network using information of dynamic routing to provide the electronic mail with service of the required type. A message written by means of a user program 24 is sent to a queue dispatcher 25 which sends information on the address of reception and type of service for the electronic mail to unit 26 for determining a message transmission route. Unit 26 for determining a route controls routing table 27, changing it at the request of control unit 28, and transmits information on the network unit which is the point of destination to the queue dispatcher 25. A communication unit 29 transmits and receives electronic mail and data for making up the routing table.
Abstract:
An electronic mail converting apparatus for facsimile that includes connections connecting to a facsimile, a public network, and a LAN. The connections may be internally changed according to the type of data or an instruction received. A converting device exists for converting data to e-mail data or vice versa, as required, wherein the converted data is transmitted to an instructed designation.
Abstract:
A method and a structure for providing electronic mail, facsimile transmission and file transfer maintain a data base in which the communication parameters of a local computer are maintained separately from the communication parameters of a remote computer which communicates the local computer. The data base includes an electronic address book in which a method and a structure are provided for specifying person, group, computer, calling card and service data. The person type data includes specification of a preference for data, or facsimile transmission. Service information are efficiently added because of modularly designed application programming interface. A method and a structure are also provided to allow synchronization between files residing on different computers.
Abstract:
A portable asset inspection device can be used during the inspection of one or more assets, such as assets in a processing or other environment. A camera in the portable asset inspection device can be used to take digital photographs of assets being inspected. A sound recorder in the portable asset inspection device can be used to record oral notes of a user or other sounds associated with the inspection of the assets. Other data could be collected from the user using the portable asset inspection device. The collected data can be transmitted in either real-time or non-real-time to an external system. The external system could associate photographs, sound recordings, and other data with specific assets, such as by automatically storing the data in records associated with the correct assets. The external system could also use the data in any suitable manner, such as to schedule asset maintenance.
Abstract:
A system and a method including allowing a transmitting facsimile device and a receiving facsimile device to select a preferable communications network by enabling the receiving facsimile device to advertise both communication network capability data associated with the receiving facsimile device and addressing identifiers associated with the communication network capability data and the receiving facsimile device, enabling the transmitting facsimile device to read the advertised communication network capability data and the advertised addressing identifiers associated with the communication network capability data and the receiving facsimile device, and enabling a selection logic to preferentially select a communication network chosen from the advertised communication network capability data that is also compatible with the transmitting facsimile device's capabilities.
Abstract:
A communication device configured to be connected with a public network and an IP network is provided, the communication device including a communication controller that selectively performs one of a public line communication process via the public network and an IP communication process via the IP network. When determining that a redialing process to reattempt the IP communication process via the IP network is unlikely to be successfully performed, the communication controller performs a fallback process to attempt the public line communication process via the public network after switching from the IP communication process via the IP network to the public line communication process via the public network, in a situation where a setting for performing the fallback process is configured. When determining that the redialing process via the IP network is not unlikely to be successfully performed, the communication controller performs the redialing process.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus comprises: a conversion unit that converts an original into image data by scanning the original; a detection unit that detects a blank page in the image data converted by the conversion unit; a separation unit that deletes image data of the blank page detected by the separation unit from the converted image data; and a transmission unit that transmits to an external apparatus (a) the converted image data from which the image data of the blank page is separated by the separation unit, (b) the separated image data of the blank page, and (c) notification information formed based on a separation result by the separation unit.
