Abstract:
A large area cathode comprises a main peripheral frame composed of two sections joined together by an electrically insulating material whereby each section is electrically isolated from the other. A secondary frame is mounted within the main frame and carries a large plurality of directly heated cathode wires extending between one section of the main frame and the secondary frame and are affixed thereto. Tensioning means extend between the secondary frame and the other section of the main frame.
Abstract:
An improved electrode support element for ceramic discharge lamps formed from the exhaust and fill tubulation extending through one or both of the arc tube refractory metal end caps. A section of the tubulation adjacent to but spaced from the inwardly extending end is notched out and that portion between the notch and the end is collapsed against the opposite side wall to form a double walled, U-shaped electrode rod gripping portion with improved centering and holding capabilities.
Abstract:
This relates to improved cathode retainer means for effecting positive positioning of a cathode within a companion electrode structure for use in a cathode ray tube electron gun. An endemitting cathode is affixed within the aperture of a ceramic insulator disc and thence suitably positioned within a control grid electrode by an improved retainer means fabricated to exert sustained pressure against the supporting insulator. The improved retainer has a plurality of terminally oriented instanding projections of a bilaminate metallic material of predetermined flexure performance which are oriented to abut the insulator. Such bilaminate material comprises a first lamina of an active metallic alloy contiguously bonded along a common interface to a second lamina of a passive alloy material. The active alloy portion upon being subjected to a predetermined temperature during tube processing undergoes a metallurgic phase transformation effecting a volume change therein producing a definite modification of the shaping of the retainer projections thereby exerting positive and sustained pressure against the cathode positioning insulator.
Abstract:
In order to obtain a good fixation of the location of the filament in the envelope of an electric incandescent lamp, in particular a miniature lamp, a slit or pit-like depression is made in the bottom of the envelope against the sides of which the bent ends of pole or supporting wires present in the lamp are located.
Abstract:
A high energy electron beam apparatus is provided having a cathode assembly for operation within a high temperature environment. The assembly associated with the cathode is subjected to high temperature generated by the cathode and associated excitation source. More specifically, this invention is directed to the support assembly associated with and about the cathode which includes sealed conductors with insulation means provided thereabout and also means for supporting and positioning a bolt type cathode accurately with respect to the assembly.
