Abstract:
A system for cooling components of a turbine includes: at least one input in fluid communication with a source of carbon dioxide gas, the carbon dioxide gas removed from synthesis gas produced by a gasification unit from hydrocarbon fuel; and at least one first conduit in fluid communication with the at least one input and configured to divert a portion of the carbon dioxide gas from the source of carbon dioxide gas to at least one component of the turbine, the turbine configured to combust the synthesis gas.
Abstract:
A data obfuscation system, method, and computer implementation via software or hardware allows a legitimate user to gain access via a query to data of sufficient granularity to be useful while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information about individual records. Output values of a data request are obfuscated in a repeatable manner, via the use of an Obfuscating Function (OF), while maintaining the amount of obfuscation within a range so that the transformed values provide to a user information of a prescribed level of granularity. The data obfuscating system and method is particularly applicable to databases. The data obfuscation engine may be implemented in hardware and/or software within a stand alone or distributed environment.
Abstract:
In a data visualization system, a method of graphically representing discrete data as a continuous surface in image space, the method comprising the steps of: a data retrieval module retrieving discrete data from a data storage device in communication with the data visualization system; an interpolation module calculating a first set of values for a weighted interpolation function based on the retrieved discrete data; a smoothing module calculating a second set of values for one or more weighted approximation functions based on the retrieved discrete data; and a surface combining module combining the first and second set of calculated values over the image space to graphically represent a continuous surface.
Abstract:
An energy-attenuation structure comprising a core layer of cellular material. Substantially most of the cells of the cellular material are open cells, with those cells disposed in the central portion of the core layer being more open than are those cells disposed in outer portions of the core layer. The openness of the cells generally decreases from the interior of the core layer in a direction toward the outer portions. At least some of the cells of the core layer are filled with a liquid.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device that includes transmitter circuits and receiver circuits that share a common data line and method is disclosed. Each transmitter circuit may include a frequency modulator that receives a stream of data and provides a frequency modulated data output at a predetermined carrier frequency. Each receiver may include a band pass filter that allows a corresponding frequency modulated data output from a corresponding transmitter circuit to pass through to a demodulator while essentially excluding the other frequency modulated data. In this way, a plurality of transmitter circuits can simultaneously transmit data with each one of the plurality of transmitter circuits transmitting data to a predetermined receiver circuit.
Abstract:
An integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) system involving CO2 capture is provided comprising a CO2-selective membrane, a pre-compressor, and a sulfur gas removal system to selectively remove H2S and CO2 from shifted syngas, wherein the pre-compressor increases the permeate stream from the CO2-selective membrane from a first pressure to a second pressure prior to entering the sulfur removal system. Also provided herein is a method of maintaining a substantially constant pressure in a sulfur removal system, comprising introducing a feed gas stream to a CO2-selective membrane for separation into a syngas rich stream and a permeate gas stream, wherein the permeate gas stream is at a first pressure; increasing the permeate gas stream from the first pressure to a second pressure; and introducing the permeate gas stream at the second pressure to a sulfur removal system downstream of the pre-compressor.
Abstract:
A device for dispensing, looping and tying ligature comprising a housing, a spool, a cannula, a lock-unlock mechanism and a snare. The housing is configured to house the spool having surgical or non surgical thread/cord wound thereon in a plurality of turns. The spool is mounted rotatably and removably in the housing. The cannula is mounted to the base of the housing removably and rotatably in its longitudinal axis to carry the thread. The lock-unlock mechanism is configured to control dispensing of said thread/cord. The snare includes a steel wire to form a Y shape or hook shape with a narrow pointed tip to thread the said cannula.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a novel process for preparation of atovaquone. The process includes reacting 1,4-naphthoquinone with trans-4-(4-chlorophenyl) cyclohexane carboxylic acid followed by halogenation to obtain a dihalo-compound. Further, dehydrohalogenation of the dihalo-compound produces a monohalogeno-compound which under goes hydrolysis to produce atovaquone. The invention also discloses atovaquone in a substantially pure and well defined polymorphic form designated as “Form IPCA-ATO,” and the preparation thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an alternate proton conducting polymer electrolyte membrane and a process for the preparation thereof. More particularly the present invention provides a conducting hybrid polymer electrolyte membrane comprising a stable host polymer and a proton-conducting medium as a guest polymer for its suitability in PEM-based fuel cells. The present invention deals with host polymer, comprising a group of poly (vinyl alcohol), poly (vinyl fluoride), polyethylene oxide, polyethyleneimine, polyethylene glycol, cellulose acetate, polyvinylmethylethyl ether, more preferably polyvinyl alcohol and a guest polymer comprising poly(styrene sulfonic acid), poly(acrylic acid), sulfonated phenolic, polyacrylonitrile, polymethyl acrylate, and quaternary ammonium salt, more preferably poly(styrene sulfonic acid).
