Abstract: Process for manufacturing a polymer by polycondensation of a hydroxy acid, said polymer comprising at least 80% by weight of units that correspond to the hydroxy acid, according to which at least one polyfunctional reactant capable of giving rise to the formation of a three-dimensional polymer network is mixed with the hydroxy acid, and according to which the mixture is subjected to temperature and pressure conditions and for a duration which are all suitable for giving rise to the formation of the network. Poly(hydroxy acid) (PHA) obtainable by such a process.

Abstract: Gas separation unit for separation of a gas component from a process gas stream, said separation unit comprising a stator and a rotor comprising a plurality of sectors, each sector containing a separation device arranged to separate the gas component from the process gas stream which is led into the separation device and each sector being fluidically connected with at least one valve. The valve is a rotary active valve which comprises a rotor open area which is located at the rotor and a stator open area which is located at the stator. The rotor open area and the stator open area can overlap and can be laterally separated from each other by rotation of the rotor relative to the stator. In this way, the valve can at least partially be opened and closed. The extent of overlap of the rotor open area and the stator open area defines the extent of opening and closing of the valve, respectively. The extent of overlap corresponds to the extent of partial opening of the valve.

Abstract: A method for in situ solution mining of a mineral from an underground evaporite stratum using a set of wells in fluid communication with at least one mineral cavity with some wells operated in solvent injection mode and other wells operated in brine production mode and optionally with some inactive wells, comprising switching the operation mode of one or more wells. The evaporite mineral preferably comprises trona. The at least one cavity may be formed by directionally drilled uncased boreholes or by lithological displacement of the evaporite stratum at a weak interface with an underlying insoluble stratum by application of a lifting hydraulic pressure to create an interfacial gap. The extracted brine can be processed to make valuable products such as soda ash and/or any derivatives thereof. This method can provide more uniform dissolution of mineral in the cavity, minimize flow channeling, minimize sodium bicarbonate blinding for solution mining of incongruent trona ore, and/or may avoid uneven deposit of insolubles.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of purifying a solution containing hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and at least one silicon impurity by treating the solution with at least one reverse osmosis membrane. According to the method of the present invention, silicon impurities contained in the solution containing hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid can be selectively removed or reduced. This method can be advantageously used in the photovoltaic industry or in the battery component industry.
