Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for reduced computing device power consumption. Example methods disclosed herein includes detecting frame updates corresponding to input frames to be presented by a display, and causing a programmable timer to generate second interrupts corresponding to first interrupts generated by a display engine, the second interrupts to be generated when there are no frame updates detected for at least a first duration of time defined by a first threshold. Example methods further include causing the display engine to transition to a low power state when (1) the programmable timer is configured to generate the second interrupts and (2) no frame updates have been detected for at least a second duration of time following the first duration of time, the second duration of time defined by a second threshold.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to improve user experience on computing devices are disclosed. An example computing device includes an image sensor. The example computing device further includes wireless communication circuitry. The example computing device also includes an operations controller to cause the wireless communication circuitry to switch between different operation modes based on an analysis of image data generated by the image sensor. Different ones of the operation modes to consume different amounts of power.

Abstract:
Hybrid rendering is described for a wearable display that is attached to a tethered computer. In one example a process include determining a position and orientation of a wearable computing device, determining a rate of motion of the wearable computing device, comparing the rate of motion to a threshold, if the rate of motion is above the threshold, then rendering a view of a scene at the wearable computing device using the position and orientation information, and displaying the rendered view of the scene.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a processor includes multiple cores each to independently execute instructions and a power control unit (PCU) coupled to the plurality of cores to control power consumption of the processor. The PCU may include a mapping logic to receive a performance scale value from an operating system (OS) and to calculate a dynamic performance-frequency mapping based at least in part on the performance scale value. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A wearable display enhances rendering when attached to a tethered computer. In one example a process includes determining a position and an orientation of a wearable computing device, sending the determined position and orientation to a tethered computer, receiving a frame at the wearable computing device from the tethered computer, the frame being one of a sequence of frames of a video sequence corresponding to a view of a scene in response to the determined position and orientation, displaying the received frame on a display of the wearable computing device, generating a frame at the wearable computing device using the received frame, displaying the generated frame after the received frame, receiving a second frame at the wearable computing device from the tethered computer, the frame being a second one of a sequence of frames of a video sequence corresponding to a view of the scene, and displaying the second received frame.

Abstract:
Techniques for polling an input/output (I/O) device are described herein. The techniques include polling a device for data from the I/O device, and receiving the data from the I/O device at the host device as a result of the polling. The techniques include determining whether the data received is the same as data received at a previous polling of the I/O device. Upon determining the data received is the same, the techniques include decreasing the polling rate if the data is the same, and if it is not the same. Upon determining the data is not the same, the techniques include increasing the polling rate if the data is not the same.
