Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to video coding/decoding and particularly for providing extension to block adaptive weighted prediction (BAWP) with multiple motion vectors. One method includes receiving a coded video bitstream; identifying, from the coded video bitstream, a first motion vector corresponding to a first reference block and a second motion vector corresponding to a second reference block; obtaining a first scaling factor corresponding to the first motion vector and a second scaling factor corresponding to the second motion vector by parsing the coded video bitstream; generating a first predicted block based on the first scaling factor and the first reference block according to a first linear equation; generating a second predicted block based on the second reference block according to a second linear equation; and reconstructing the current block based on the first predicted block and the second predicted block.

Abstract: The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for encoding and decoding video. In one aspect, a method of video decoding includes receiving video data that includes a first block from a video bitstream, where the first block is encoded in a smooth mode. The method further includes identifying a set of reference samples for the first block and deriving a first prediction value for the first block. The method also includes deriving a refined first prediction value for the first block using a weighted sum of a first reference sample of the set of reference samples and the first prediction value and decoding the first block based on the refined first prediction value.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclose provide methods and an apparatus for video and/or image coding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that receive a bitstream including a frame. Coding information for a block in the frame indicates that the block is coded with a joint motion vector difference (JMVD) coding mode and a compound weighted prediction mode. The coding information includes scaling factor information of the JMVD coding mode. If the scaling factor information indicates that each of scaling factors of components of at least one MVD associated with at least one respective reference frame of the block is a pre-defined scaling factor, a weighting factor of the compound weighted prediction mode is determined based on a list of weighting factors. Otherwise, the weighting factor of the compound weighted prediction mode is determined based on a subset of the list of weighting factors.

Abstract: Coded information of a current block and neighboring blocks of the current block is received, where the current block is predicted in an intra directional mode. The intra directional mode of the current block is determined to be associated with an angle that is one of smaller than 90 degrees and larger than 180 degrees. In response to the intra directional mode of the current block being associated with the angle, whether a delta angle associated with the current block is a pre-defined delta angle is determined. In response to the delta angle associated with the current block not being the pre-defined delta angle, a single direction intra prediction and not a bi-direction intra prediction is applied to the current block. A sample of the current block is reconstructed based on an adjacent reference sample on a reference line that is determined according to the single direction intra prediction.

Abstract: The various embodiments described herein include methods and systems for encoding and decoding video. In one aspect, a method includes receiving video data comprising a plurality of blocks, including a first block. The method also includes obtaining, from the video data, a syntax element value indicating a wedge mode index corresponding to a first partition mode from a plurality of partition modes for the first block, where the wedge mode index is greater than 16. The method further includes determining that the first partition mode is associated with a compound wedge-based prediction for the first block. The method also includes partitioning the first block into a first section and a second section in accordance with the first partition mode and the wedge mode index, and decoding the first section in accordance with a first predictor and decoding the second section in accordance with a second predictor.

Abstract: The various embodiments described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a method includes obtaining encoded video data comprising a plurality of blocks and parsing the encoded video data for each block in the plurality of blocks without reconstructing an entire motion vector predictor (MVP) list. The method also includes first determining whether warped motion compensation is allowed for the block and whether warped motion compensation is enabled for a first spatial neighbor block; and determining whether to perform warped motion compensation for the block during a subsequent reconstruction operation based on the first determination. The method further includes designating the block for a warp extend operation or a warp delta operation in accordance with a determination to perform warped motion compensation for the block during the subsequent reconstruction operation.

The method includes receiving, by a device, a coded video bitstream; determining, by the device based on the coded video bitstream, the current block of the current frame to be inter predicted by at least one reference block of at least one reference frame; determining, by the device based on the coded video bitstream, a current-block motion vector (MV) corresponding to each of the at least one reference block, the current-block MV to be predicted by a reference MV; and identifying, by the device, a subblock MV of a MV reference block as the reference MV for predicting the current-block MV.

Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding and decoding using warp motion modes are provided. A method includes receiving a bitstream that includes a coded picture; obtaining a plurality of motion vectors pointing to positions in neighboring blocks that are adjacent to a current block in the coded picture, the plurality of motion vectors including at least one temporal motion vector; obtaining motion samples for a warp model based on the plurality of motion vectors; and decoding the current block by using the warp model and the motion samples including the at least one temporal motion vector for prediction. Some Embodiments may include methods of using temporal motion information to derive a warp model, and may further provide warp sample selection and grouping. Some embodiments may provide improvements on local warp motion modes.

Abstract: A coded video bitstream comprising a current block in a current picture is received. The current block includes a plurality of subblocks and is to be predicted by a subblock-based template matching motion vector prediction (SbTMVP) mode. A respective collocated reference subblock for each subblock is determined based on a combination of a displacement vector (DV) and a motion vector offset (MVO) that are associated with the respective subblock. A motion vector (MV) field in the respective collocated reference subblock of each subblock in the current block is determined. A respective reference template for each subblock is derived based on the determined MV field of the collocated reference subblock. The plurality of subblocks of the current block is reconstructed by predicting each subblock using the respective reference template in the SbTMVP mode.
