Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for forming a multi-layer coating film by applying a clear coating (B) on the film of a leafing type aluminum flake-containing metallic coating (A), which method comprises forming a film of the metallic coating (A), curing the film, applying thereon a composition (C) containing a polymer formed from an unsaturated monomer having a phosphoric acid group represented by --O--PO(OH)(R.sub.1) (wherein R.sub.1 is a hydroxyl group, a phenyl group or a C.sub.1-20 alkyl group) and a hydroxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer, and then applying the clear coating (B) on the film of the composition (C). The method can form a multi-layer coating film improved in interlayer adhesivity between the metallic coating film and the clear coating film, without reducing the excellent effects and metallic feeling provided by a metallic coating film containing leafing type aluminum flake.
Abstract:
A reference signal generation apparatus for a position detector is disclosed in which a plurality of signals having peaks at predetermined intervals are produced from the light transmitted through slit rows of random patterns and a plurality of light detectors for detecting the same light, thereby producing a reference signal in the vicinity of maximum and minimum values of the difference signal between the output signals of the light detectors.
Abstract:
An automatic speed control mechanism for a motorcycle embodying an actuator device for automatically positioning the throttle of the engine. The automatic device is able to generate sufficient force so as to overcome the normal closing bias of the throttle but has insufficient force to resist throttle closing movement of the manual actuator so that the operator may manually override the automatic speed control and reduce the speed of the motorcycle.
Abstract:
An electric tachometer having a bar-graph display representing revolutions per minute (r.p.m.) on two scales. One scale shows normal r.p.m. while an expanded scale is provided to more accurately indicate r.p.m. while an expanded scale is provided more accurately to indicate r.p.m. lower than a predetermined value. A detector determines whether engine r.p.m. is above a predetermined value and a selector switch permits selection to normal or an expanded display.
Abstract:
A fur-like napped fabric and process for manufacturing same are disclosed wherein a fiber layer comprising uncrimped short fibers or short fibers having a number of crimps of not greater than 10 crimps per inch are provided as a fiber layer on a base fabric. The fibers are then implanted into the base fabric by needle punching. Thereafter, the fibers are raised to form a nap. After needle punching, the base fabric and fibers may be bonded to each other by means of a backing treatment or the like which is carefully applied so as not to permeate the raised hair portion extending on the front surface of the fabric. Especially pleasing aesthetic effects are produced when the napped fibers have static frictional coefficients of less than 0.35 and wherein the bending recovery rate of said fibers is higher than 50%.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a liquid-retaining synthetic fiber having a substantially pointed free end and including a tapered portion having an acute ridgeline on its surface. It is prepared from a synthetic fiber having in section at least one concave portion and at least one convex portion which gradually taper off toward the outside from the center. These fibers are suitable for use in brushes, or for the manufacture of knitted or woven fabrics or flocked fabrics having an animal hair-like or fur-like touch or appearance.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a highly flame-retardant fiber of excellent color-fastness which is made from the mixture composition of 30 to 60 parts of an amino resin composed of a condensation product of formaldehyde with melamine and other amino compounds selected from, urea, dicyandiamide and benzoguanamine, and 70 to 40 parts of polyvinyl alcohol. The incorporation of 0.1 to 4.0% by weight of phosphorus by the addition of a reactive organic phosphorous compound to the spinning dope or to the wet filaments before drawing causes noticeable enhancement of the flame-retardance. Curing and crosslinking may be carried out during the yarn-making process of spinning, drawing and heat-setting or after the yarn-making process by treatment in an acidic formaldehyde environment.
Abstract:
A method for creating a database for paint colors having a desired texture includes storing spectral reflectance data and micro-brilliance data of paint colors after associating each spectral reflectance data and each micro-brilliance data with a paint color code; storing texture evaluation values of sample paint colors after associating the each texture evaluation value with the paint color code; calculating characteristic quantities of the paint colors expressing textures using the spectral reflectance data and the micro-brilliance data, and storing the characteristic quantities after associating the each characteristic quantity with the paint color code; training a neural network using the characteristic quantities and the texture evaluation values of the sample paint colors as training data; and inputting characteristic quantities of the paint colors other than the sample paint colors into the neural network after the training, and storing output data after associating each output data with the paint color code.
Abstract:
A process for preparation of an alcoholic beverage produced by mixing an alcoholic beverage base mix containing alcohol and at least one type of water-soluble substance with ice pieces in a proportion of 20:80 to 80:20, and conducting aeration, agitation and cooling so that the volume fraction of contained gas is in the range of 1 to 150% and the mixing temperature is lower than −1° C., thereby obtaining a gas-containing matter having an alcohol concentration of ≧1.0 vol. % and being fluid at −15° to −2° C., wherein fine ice pieces of 0.06 to 0.8 mm major axis length are present in an amount of at least 80 wt. % based on the total weight so that at least part of the fine ice pieces are sensed.
Abstract:
A racquet string includes a core component whose principal component is a synthetic fiber, and a surface resin component, wherein fullerenes or by-product carbon particles derived from manufacture of fullerenes are blended into the surface resin component, and wherein the blended percentage content is in a range of at least 0.01 wt % and at most 5.0 wt % of the entire string. The surface resin component may be formed as a sheath component by coating or by composite spinning. It is preferable that the amount of fullerenes or by-product carbon particles derived from the manufacture of fullerenes that is included in the surface resin component is in a range of at least 0.1 wt % and at most 25 wt %. Thus, the durability of the racquet string is improved without substantially changing its physical properties.
