Abstract: A display system useful as a head-up display for vehicles, such as aircraft, automobiles, trucks, etc., includes a fluorescent material that can be carried on a support. The head-up display system further includes a projection assembly having an electromagnetic radiation source. The projection assembly is configured to direct electromagnetic radiation of one or more selected wavelengths toward the support to cause the fluorescent material to fluoresce and form an image.

Abstract: The invention relates to a glass substrate having on at least one of its faces an antireflection coating formed by a stack of thin dielectric material layers having alternately high and low refractive indices. To prevent the modification of the optical properties of the coating in the case where the substrate is subject to a heat treatment such as tempering, bending or annealing, the layer or layers of the stack which are liable to deteriorate on contact with alkali ions such as sodium ions are separated form the substrate by at least one layer forming part of the antireflection coating and forming a “shield” with respect to the diffusion of alkali.

Abstract: Presented are multilayer composite panels for motor vehicles, methods for making/using such panels, and motor vehicles with transparent composite roof panels having localized reinforcement features. A sandwich-type multilayer composite panel contains one or more exterior layers each including a transparent rigid material, one or more bonding layers each including a transparent adhesive material, and one or more structural reinforcement layers each including a fiber-reinforced polymer material. Each structural reinforcement layer may be attached directly to a bonding layer and/or exterior layer. The composite panel may also include one or more IR-reflective layers, one or more light-absorbing sunshade layers, and one or more insulating low-k layers. The multilayer body panel has a plan-view profile; the individual layers extend substantially the entire length and width of the plan area, whereas the fibers in each structural reinforcement layer are localized to one or more discrete regions within the plan-view profile.

Abstract: A projection arrangement for a head-up display (HUD), includes a composite pane, including an outer and an inner pane connected to one another via a thermoplastic intermediate layer, with an HUD region; an electrically conductive coating on the surface of the outer pane or of the inner pane facing or within the intermediate layer; and a projector directed toward the HUD region. The radiation of the projector is p-polarised. The composite pane has reflectance of at least 10% relative to p-polarised radiation in the spectral range from 450 nm to 650 nm. The electrically conductive coating includes at least four electrically conductive layers, which are each arranged between two dielectric layers or layer sequences. The sum of the thicknesses of all electrically conductive layers is at most 30 nm and at least one of the electrically conductive layers has a thickness of at most 5 nm.
