An exemplary elevator system includes at least one elevator car. An access controller is configured to provide an access credential to a portable wireless communication device responsive to a request from that device indicating a desire for at least access to the elevator system. The access credential at least temporarily indicates that the desired access should be granted. A credential receiver is configured to obtain the provided access credential from the portable wireless communication device. An entry device allows the desired access responsive to the credential receiver obtaining the access credential.

The present invention relates to a method of controlling access to floor within a building via elevator. The method includes receiving a passenger input indicating a desired destination floor a passenger seeks to travel to in an elevator, accessing a stored database containing data about which floors passengers are allowed to access via elevator when coming from the floor of the passenger input, determining if access is allowed based upon the desired destination floor and the data, and controlling operation of the elevator to deliver the passenger to the desired destination floor if access is allowed.

In an elevator system having a destination call registration device with which a user registers a destination call before boarding the elevator car and an assigned car confirming device with which a user makes sure of an assigned car by inputting his or her personal information when an elevator has been assigned to a destination call registered from the destination call registration device, information on an assigned car and personal information of a user are stored by associating these pieces of information with each other. An assigned car confirming device provides information on the assigned car to the user on the basis of the stored personal information.

A method including: detecting movement of a building door on a floor of a building; based on the detected movement of the building door, defining the floor of the building as a start floor for an elevator trip with an elevator system in the building; and based on the detected movement of the building door, placing a predefined destination call for the elevator trip. The detecting can include determining that a passenger is passing through the building door. A system for performing the method includes: a sensor; an elevator installation in the building; and a control unit coupled to the sensor and to the elevator installation, and configured to detect the door movement using the sensor, define the floor of the building as the start floor, and place a predefined destination call for the elevator trip.

An access control system for a people conveyor control system, includes an authentication proving device adapted to communicate with a people conveyor control system. The authentication proving device has a central processor unit and a read protected memory protected from read and write access by external applications. The authentication proving device stores in its read protected memory program code to carry out a verification procedure in response to a verification request from the people conveyor control system, and sends a verification signal to the people conveyor control system. The people conveyor control system in response to the verification signal selectively allows or denies access to at least one of specific sections of said people conveyor control system or specific functions implemented in the people conveyor control system.

The visitor can read an information-containing tag with the electronic device to input location information into the device.
