Abstract:
Die release lubricant is made from powder solid lubricant, adhesion enhancer made of organic or inorganic compound and volatile solvent. Before melted metal is injected into a die for casting, the die release lubricant is sprayed to an inside surface of the die. The die release lubricant is in a liquid state and is uniformly applied to the inside surface of the die. As a result, application efficiency of the die release lubricant is improved while an amount of thermal decomposition gas generated during casting is reduced.
Abstract:
A combination of sulfur-free azoles, preferably benzotriazole and tolyltriazole, with sulfur-containing azoles, preferably 2-mercaptobenzothiazole or mercaptobenzimidazole, prevents discoloration, staining, or corrosion of metal surfaces being coated with an organic protective coating from aqueous dispersion or solution.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel lubricant compositions comprising a solid lubricant and a binding agent in water medium suitable for lubricating steel-steel interfaces such as tractor-trailer couplings, rail-wheel systems and other heavy duty applications. The invention also relates to compositions described above which include friction modifiers with high or very high and positive coefficients of friction such that the coefficient of friction is considerably higher than the solid lubricant. The invention further relates to compositions comprising a binding agent and a friction modifier with a very high and positive coefficient of friction in a water medium.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to improved gel/grease compositions as well as grease compositions capable of imparting improved corrosion resistance. The grease includes a silica/silicate mixture that can imparts a relatively high pH and corrosion resistant properties to the grease.
Abstract:
A filling compound for electrical and optical equipment in the form of cables, connectors, plugs etc. and to assemblies thus produced, is provided. Electrical and optical equipment in the form of cables, connectors, plugs etc. have to be protected against harmful influences penetrating from outside, particularly water, and also against mechanical damage during laying or as a result of exposure to heat. The filling compound is based on a stellate substance, i.e. a substance having a branched molecular structure in which, ideally, 3 or more branches, more particularly polymeric chains, radiate from a single branching point. The filling compound is flexible at very low temperatures but, on the other hand, does not run out, even at extremely high temperatures.
Abstract:
A lubricant is provided for use in hot working such as cross-roll rolling of a seamless steel pipe. It effectively reduces the friction coefficient between the working tools and the material under the hot work, thus extending the lives of the tools. The lubricant contains: (A) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of alkali silicate; (B) from about 1 to about 20 wt % of silane coupling agent; (C) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one kind of alkali compound selected from a group consisting of an alkali hydroxide, an alkali carbonate, an alkali borate and an alkali salt of mineral acid; and (D) from about 30 to about 70 wt % of water. Alternatively, the lubricant contains: (A) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of alkali silicate; (B) from about 1 to about 20 wt % of silane coupling agent; (C) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one kind of alkali compound selected from a group consisting of an alkali hydroxide, an alkali carbonate, an alkali borate and an alkali salt of mineral acid; (D) from about 5 to about 50 wt % of water; (E) from about 10 to about 60 wt % of iron oxide; and (F) from about 0.1 to about 5.0 wt % of at least one additive selected from a group consisting of a dispersant and a thickening agent.

Abstract:
A rock bit for drilling subterranean formations is lubricated with a grease composition made from a high-viscosity synthetic lubricant basestock and a combination of lubricant additives. The grease composition preferably has in the range of from 1 to 20 percent by weight polyisobutylene, in the range of from 50 to 90 percent by weight ethylene-alphaolefin, up to approximately 40 percent by weight polyalphaolefin, and in the range of from 4 to 45 percent by weight lubricant additives. The rock bit grease composition has a viscosity index in the range of from about 250 to 325, and has an absolute viscosity of greater than about 100,000 centipoise at a temperature of approximately 70.degree. F. and at a shear rate of less than about 40 seconds.sup.-1, without the use of solid metal-containing extreme pressure agents or thickening agents. The grease composition forms a lubricant film having enhanced thicknesses, when compared to conventional mineral oil-based greases, to provide excellent rock bit bearing lubrication.
Abstract:
The invention concerns the use of mixed hydroxydes of bivalent and trivalent metals with a three-dimensional spaced-lattice structure of the garnet type to control the thixotropic thickening of aqueous preparations, using swellable clays and/or other swellable layer-silicate compounds of natural and/or synthetic origin as visosity-increasing agents. The preferred garnet-type mixed hydroxydes are catoites of the basic structure Ca.sub.3 Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.12 a minor proportion of whose OH units can be exchanged for acid groups, in particular silicate groups.
