Abstract:
A jacket for a load-bearing, lengthy body, wherein the jacket is comprised of a plurality of braid elements which, when braided, enclose at least a portion of the lengthy body, and wherein the braid element is comprised of a braided ribbon. A method of forming the jacket is also described.
Abstract:
A cable contains filaments containing carbon, surrounded by a sizing. The filaments surrounded by the sizing are covered by a matrix which is composed of a material containing at least one elastomer and/or at least one thermoplastic elastomer. The cable can be used, in particular for pulling a load, for example in a goods lift.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing an elevator includes installing a movable supporting platform and an elevator car in the elevator hoistway; taking the elevator car into use to serve passengers and/or to transport goods; removing the elevator car from use; changing the service range of the elevator car to reach higher up in the elevator hoistway by lifting the supporting platform higher up in the elevator hoistway; and taking the elevator car back into use. The elevator is reeved to include construction-time hoisting roping, which includes one or more ropes, the longitudinal power transmission capacity of which is based at least essentially on non-metallic fibers in the longitudinal direction of the rope. In the method, guide rails to be fixed with guide rail brackets can additionally be installed by the aid of an installation device. An elevator arrangement can be used to perform the method.
Abstract:
Elevator, which comprises at least an elevator car and means for moving the elevator car, preferably along guide rails, and an overspeed governor arrangement, which comprises an overspeed governor rope, which moves according to the movement of the elevator car, and which overspeed governor rope is connected to a brake arrangement that is in connection with the elevator car such that with the overspeed governor rope force can be transmitted to the brake arrangement for shifting the brake comprised in the brake arrangement into a braking position. The rope comprises a power transmission part or a plurality of power transmission parts, for transmitting force in the longitudinal direction of the rope, which power transmission part is essentially fully of non-metallic material.
Abstract:
Steel cord is manufactured by: forming a plurality of bends, per filament length equivalent to one twist pitch, on each of filaments which constitute an outer layer sheath, with the filament length equivalent to one twist pitch being a cycle; twisting these filaments while the bends belonging to the same phase are aligned in a cord axial direction; and subjecting cord side surfaces to compression processing. As a result, flat side surface portions are formed, in which a plurality of filaments forming the outer layer sheath are positioned substantially in the same plane. The steel cord thus formed is used in reinforcement plies for pneumatic radial tires such that the reinforcement plies are laminated in a manner in which the flat side surface portions are mutually parallel.
Abstract:
A steel cord according to this invention comprises two core wires and five outer wires each having a diameter larger than that of each core wire and integrally twisted on the core wires, wherein a strand constituted by the five outer wires and the two core wires has an oblong cross-section.
Abstract:
A method for producing a steel cord from 3 to 6 steel filaments on which a coating is applied to retain the adhesion to a rubber, the steel cord being destined for use to reinforce a rubber product having a flat section, comprising the following steps of preforming steel filaments at a ratio of more than 120% by twisting them together to form an open-structure steel cord; and passing the steel cord through a flattening apparatus provided at each of outlet and inlet thereof with a roller having a groove formed in the center of the circumference thereof, and between the inlet and outlet rollers with at least a roller of which the circumferential surface is flat, to repeatedly bend the steel cord vertically or horizontally.
Abstract:
An open type metal cord has a plurality of cord units each constituted by at least one preformed metal wire member. The wire members within a given cord unit have the same preforming ratio but have a different ratio from that of the wire members within another cord unit. A difference between the largest preforming ratio and the smallest preforming ratio in cord units falls within the range of 0.20 to 0.40. In this case, the maximum preforming ratio possible for the wire members is 1.65 and the minimum preforming ratio possible for the wire members is 1.05. A total number of wire members constituting a metal cord according to the present invention is 3 to 5.
Abstract:
A metallic cable comprises a strand of identical helical shaped filaments positioned beside and against each other such that each filament of the strand is in line contact with at least one other filament of the strand. The helixes of the filaments of the strand are sloped in a first direction. A single filament is twisted with the strand in a direction opposite to said first direction. An apparatus and a method for manufacturing the metallic cable are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A non-rotating rope, comprising 3 or 4 strands of of clam-shaped cross section so arranged around a flexible core equidistantly from the rope center that the principal axes of the clams are on the equiangularly spaced radial lines radiating from the rope center and the sides of the clams are in contact with one another with the apex and base of each clam directed inwards and outwards respectively, is closed in a direction opposite to the direction of the lay of the strands.
