Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided that is a dried product of a latex composition, which is formed from an emulsion composition. The latex composition and the emulsion composition are also provided. The emulsion composition has droplets that contain various monomers plus a (meth)acrylate polymer and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier dissolved in the monomers. Additionally, an article containing a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive and a method of forming the pressure-sensitive adhesive are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesives often have both high peel adhesion and high shear strength (i.e., high cohesive strength or high shear holding power).
Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided including an emulsion polymer containing a (meth)acrylate copolymer and nanocrystalline cellulose. The inclusion of the nanocrystalline cellulose results in an increase in the overlap shear properties of the adhesive while maintaining the peel adhesion. Articles and emulsions including the pressure-sensitive adhesive are also provided.
Abstract:
There are provided rolls comprising an air and water barrier article having opposing first and second major surfaces, a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on at least the first major surface of the article, and a liner having a first major surface that contacts the opposing second major surface of the article, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive contacts a second major surface of the liner when wound in the roll. There are also provided self adhering air and water barrier articles and building envelopes made using the presently disclosed rolls.
Abstract:
Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are described comprising polymerized units derived from alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer(s) and a crosslinking monomer comprising at least two terminal groups selected from allyl, methallyl, or combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the pressure sensitive adhesive composition is a syrup or the reaction product of a syrup comprising i) a free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer; and ii) a solute (meth)acrylic polymer The syrup or the (meth)acrylic solute polymer comprises polymerized units derived from the cross-linking monomer. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and methods.

A film is described comprising a (meth)acrylic polymer and a polyvinyl acetal (e.g. butyral) resin. In some embodiments, the film has a glass transition temperature (i.e. Tg) ranging from 30° C. to 60° C. In some embodiments, the film has a gel content of at least 20% or greater. In some embodiments, the film has an elongation at break of at least 175%. The film typically comprises photoinitiator as a result of the method by which the film was made. The film may be a monolithic film or a layer of a multilayer film.
Abstract:
Methods for producing an at least partially cured layer by applying a layer including a (meth)acrylate-functional siloxane to a surface of a substrate, and irradiating the layer in a substantially inert atmosphere with a short wavelength polychromatic ultraviolet light source having a peak intensity at a wavelength of from about 160 nanometers to about 240 nanometers to at least partially cure the layer. Optionally, the layer is at a curing temperature greater than 25° C. In some embodiments, the layer has a thickness of about 0.1 micrometers to about 1 micrometer. In certain embodiments, the layer is substantially free of a photoinitiator and/or an organic solvent. In some particular embodiments, irradiating the layer with a short wavelength polychromatic ultraviolet light source takes place in an inert atmosphere including no greater than 50 ppm oxygen. The substantially cured layer may be a release layer or a low adhesion backsize (LAB).
