Abstract: A base station antenna that extends along a first longitudinal axis includes a first array configured to emit electromagnetic radiation. The first array includes a first column of radiating elements, the first column including a first radiating element and a pair of second radiating elements. The first radiating element is a cross dipole radiating element and the pair of second radiating elements includes a pair of second radiating elements that are disposed facing each other on both sides of the first longitudinal axis, where each of the second radiating elements includes first and second radiating arms that extend respectively in opposite directions substantially along the first longitudinal axis, and a third radiating arm that extends toward the first longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the first and second radiating arms.

Abstract: In order to reduce large sidelobes that may result from using a base station antenna with increased electronic downtilt, base station antennas according to the present disclosure may have a plurality of modules in which the columns of radiating elements of at least one of the modules are staggered or offset with respect to each other. For example, a multi-beam cellular antenna may include an antenna array having a plurality of modules, each module comprising at least three columns of radiating elements each having first polarization radiators, wherein the columns of radiating elements of at least one of the modules are staggered with respect to each other; and an antenna feed network configured to couple at least a first input signal and a second input signal to each first polarization radiator of each of the radiating elements included in a first of the plurality of modules.

Abstract: A base station antenna includes a backplane and a plurality of radiating elements that extend forwardly from the backplane. The antenna further includes a plurality of feed boards, and each of the feed boards has a respective group of one or more of the radiating elements mounted thereon. The antenna also includes a calibration port and a calibration circuit that has a calibration combiner that has an output that is coupled to the calibration port and a plurality of directional couplers that are coupled to the calibration combiner. At least a first portion of a first of the first directional couplers is implemented on a first of the feed boards.

The base station antenna also includes a plurality of vertical columns of high-band radiating elements configured to transmit RF signals in a second frequency band that is higher than the first frequency band. The vertical columns of high-band radiating elements extend in parallel with the vertical columns of low-band radiating elements in a vertical direction.

Abstract: A first-band radiating element configured to operate in a first frequency band may be designed for reducing distortion associated with one or more second-band radiating element configured to operate in a second frequency band. The first-band radiating element may include a first printed circuit board. The first printed circuit board may include a first surface including a first feed line connected to a feed network of a feed board of an antenna. The radiating element may also include a second surface opposite the first surface. The second surface may include one or more first conductive planes connected to a ground plane of the feed board; and one or more first open-end traces coupled to the one or more conductive planes.

Abstract: A multi-band radiating array includes a planar reflector, first radiating elements defining a first column on the planar reflector, second radiating elements defining a second column on the planar reflector alongside the first column, and third radiating elements interspersed between the second radiating elements in the second column. The first radiating elements have a first operating frequency range, the second radiating elements have a second operating frequency range that is lower than the first operating frequency range, and the third radiating elements have a third, narrowband operating frequency range that is higher than the second operating frequency range but lower than the first operating frequency range. Respective capacitors are coupled between elongated arm segments and an elongated stalk of the third radiating elements, and a common mode resonance of the third radiating elements is present in a lower frequency range than the second operating frequency range.
