Abstract: A smart functional vehicle component includes a vehicle component, a leather sheet fixed over a surface of the vehicle component, a flexible electronic circuit contacting an A-surface of the leather sheet and including a printed and cured conductive ink, a light source that emits light when electrical power is supplied to the light source, the light source being electrically connected to the circuit, and a pigmented coating arranged over the electronic circuit and over the light source. The pigmented coating inhibits or prevents the circuit and the light source form being visible through the pigmented coating. Light emitted by the light source is visible through the pigmented coating. Light emitted by the light source provides visual indicators that convey information to a vehicle occupant.

Abstract: A coaster for illuminating a liquid receptacle is disclosed. The coaster includes a light and a pressure-sensitive switch for activating the light when the receptacle is placed on the coaster so as to illuminate the receptacle and its contents. A disc battery is sandwiched between strips of a flexible circuit board so that compression of the strips against the battery causes a completion of the circuit to turn the light on.

Abstract: An embodiment display panel includes a housing comprising a recess and framing portions, a printed circuit board (PCB), a sealing material, and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The PCB is attached to and overhangs the framing portions of the housing. The PCB includes a front side and an opposite back side. The recess overlies the opposite back side of the PCB. The sealing material is disposed between the opposite back side of the PCB and the framing portions of the housing. The plurality of LEDs is disposed at the front side of the PCB. The front side of the PCB forms an entirety of a front surface of the display panel.

Abstract: A light source that is adapted to replace existing fluorescent tubes in an existing fluorescent light fixture is disclosed. The light source includes a plurality of LEDs mounted on a heat-dissipating structure, first and second plug adapters that mate with the florescent tube connectors of the fluorescent tube the light source is to replace, and a power adapter that converts power from a fluorescent tube ballast presented on the first and second plug adapters to DC power that powers the LEDs. The light source is powered from the output of the existing fluorescent ballast. The light source can utilize the existing metallic enclosure as a heat-radiating surface and/or direct air heat transfer from the surface of the heat-dissipating structure.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a display device with a reduced bezel area and a method for fabricating the same. A wiring electrode disposed on a substrate is electrically connected to a connection electrode disposed on an inclined surface of a circuit board in contact with the substrate, and the connection electrode is electrically connected to a circuit wiring disposed on the circuit board. Therefore, an inactive area such as a pad portion for connecting the substrate with the circuit board is not required, such that the bezel area can be reduced.

Abstract: A foil structure with generation of visible light using LED technology includes a carrier foil and an LED chip for generation of UV light. The LED chip is disposed on the carrier foil and is provided with a light output face for emission of the UV light. Furthermore, the foil structure includes a color reaction layer for conversion of the UV light into the visible light. The color reaction layer is disposed above the LED chip or in a manner laterally offset relative to the LED chip. The color reaction layer is provided with a structuring, so that the UV light emitted from the light output face of the LED chip is not emitted into the surroundings of the foil structure.
