    Abstract: Embodiments automatically assess, e.g., quantify dimensions of, cracks in real-world objects. Amongst other examples, such functionality can be used to identify structural problems in bridges and buildings. An example implementation maps pixels in an image of a real-world object to corresponding points in point cloud data of the real-world object. In turn, a patch in the image data that includes a crack is identified by processing, using a classifier, the pixels with the corresponding points mapped. Pixels in the patch that correspond to the crack are then identified based on one or more features of the image. Real-world dimensions of the crack are determined using the identified pixels in the patch corresponding to the crack.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying a degree of food processing based on food nutrient content are provided. Given in a nutrient profile for a food that includes nutrient content data for the food, a vector of probabilities is generated in which each probability of the vector represents a probability associated with a processing category for the food. A food processing score is determined based on the vector of probabilities and displayed. An individual food score can also be determined based on a plurality of food processing scores. The individual food processing score can be weight-based or calorie-based.

    Abstract: The presently disclosed embodiments generally relate to systems, devices, and methods for sensing and charging of electronic devices using coils. In some embodiments, the presently disclosed system can include a pad, a charging foot, and a backpack. The pad can include one or more nested coils therein that can sense one or more corresponding receiver coils of an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) that landed thereon. The nested coils of the pad can provide charging energy to the UAV independent of the location along the pad in which the UAV landed, and no precise alignment between the receiver coils and the charging coils is required. The charging foot can be attached to one or more legs of the UAV, and can include a receiver coil and circuitry to regulate energy received by the coil to a charging voltage level that can be provided to the battery.

    Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for access point discovery in a wireless network are provided. An access point device embeds into a preamble of a transmission packet discovery information including modifications determined by passing in-phase quadrature (IQ) symbols through a finite impulse response (FIR) filter to introduce a phase shift in selected ones of the IQ symbols. The phase shifts are encoded into bits in selected ones of a plurality of subcarriers, bounded by a maximum phase shift and a maximum number of the subcarriers to limit the packet error rate. A convolutional neural network can learn channel state and other information to determine the maximum phase shift and number of subcarriers. A client device can select from among a plurality of modified transmission packets to send a discovery request.

    Abstract: Provided is an LSTM-based hot-rolling roll-bending force predicting method including the steps of acquiring final rolling data of a stand of a stainless steel rolling mill when performing a hot rolling process, and dividing the data into a training set traindata and a test set testdata; normalizing the traindata; building a matrix P; using a last row of the matrix P as a label of the training set, namely a true value; calculating and updating an output value and the true value of a network; after network training is completed, taking the last m output data of the LSTM network as an input at a next moment, and then obtaining an output of the network at the next moment, wherein the output is a predicted value of the roll-bending force at the next moment; repeating the steps until a sufficient number of prediction data is obtained; and comparing the processed data with the true value in the testdata to check the validity of the network.

    Abstract: A visible light communication (VLC) system transmits and receives visible light signals across a VLC channel that includes an air-water interface. A transmitter may be configured generates and transmits a visible light signal across the VLC channel to a remote device, and a signal modulator controls the transmitter to generate the visible light signal from a digital transmission signal in accordance with a modulation setting. A receiver processes a remote visible light signal received across the VLC channel from the remote device. A signal demodulator converts the remote visible light signal to a received digital signal.
