Abstract: A therapeutic system and method flexes, extends, and exercises the metacarpal and phalangeal joints of an affected hand. The system comprises a therapeutic glove that receives an affected hand and adjustably applies movement to the fingers and thumb in a first forward direction to form a flexion position, and a second rearward direction to form an extension position. The position of the fingers and thumb as well as the amount of pressure applied is controlled by manipulating restraining members to pull and restrain the fingers and thumb and then attaching to a corresponding body and wrist portion on the glove. The extent of the pulling, including the pressure applied to the metacarpal and phalangeal joints, is fixed, adjustable, and easily releasable. A secondary therapeutic glove compensates for the tactile perception feedback from an unaffected hand. A therapeutic pain relief modality is applied prior to donning the glove.

Abstract: A boot assembly and method that simulates, in a static equine animal (stalled or hauled), the natural mechanical action of walking or other gaited exercise. The assembly has a boot, containing a shock absorbing pad that is fitted with one or more pulsing bladders disposed under or inside the shock absorbing pad. Pressuring and relaxing the pulsing bladder in the bottom of the boot rhythmically pushes against the sole and frog and against the toe of the equine hoof in much the same way that the hoof is exercised when the animal is moving. The pulsing action helps stimulate blood flow through the hoof and is beneficial to shod, injured, and transported horses. The assembly may be fitted on one or more hooves, and may be automated to provide timing and sequencing to simulate different gaits of the animal. In some aspects, the assembly is disposed in an ice boot or ice spa boot to also provide cryotherapy as well as simulated exercise.

Abstract: A multi-function, adjustable chiropractic table comprises a body section fixed to a table frame. A cervical section is movably attached to the table frame and securable at a desired angle. The cervical section comprises a padded head support, forehead strap, and neck bolsters. The head support is slidably mounted in a tray and translatable therein using a scissors mechanism, for linear axial traction. Pivotally mounting the tray to the cervical section permits lateral traction. A four-bar linkage, including a base frame, permits raising/lowering of the table using an actuator activated by a foot triggered wave switch comprising proximity sensors. The body section comprises a chest, lumbar, and leg sections. The chest section is replaceable with a treatment nodule comprising hot and cold compresses, or a laser enhanced spinal decompression therapy apparatus comprising a laser driven by two linear actuators to emit light according to one or more treatment protocols.
