Abstract: A hydrocarbon reformer furnace is provided having a plurality of vertical tubes running through a furnace firebox wherein the upper and lower ends of said tubes are connected to inlet and outlet headers respectively. The apertures through which the lower ends of the vertical tubes exit the firebox are sealed with cast-in-place refractory seals to provide an air seal and mechanical dampening of said tubes.

Abstract: Free flowing resin powder which upon striking a heated article fuses, flows and hardens to provide a protective coating, which powder consists of a mixture of rough and rounded particles, the rough particles having a granular appearance as a result of being pulverized and the rounded particles having smooth, glossy, spheroidized surfaces as a result of being briefly heated to a temperature above the softening point. Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for polymerizing at least one olefin in gas phase in a fluidized bed in a polymerization reactor having a top zone of a generally conical shape as such that the equivalent cross-sectional diameter is monotonically decreasing with respect to the flow direction of the fluidization gas, a middle zone in direct contact with and below said top zone of a generally cylindrical shape and a bottom zone in direct contact and below said middle zone and of a generally conical shape as such that the equivalent cross-sectional diameter is monotonically increasing with respect to the flow direction of the fluidization gas, comprising the steps of: a) introducing a first stream of fluidization gas into the bottom zone; b) polymerizing at least one olefin in the presence of a polymerization catalyst in the fluidized bed formed by particles of a polymer of the at least one olefin suspended in an upwards flowing stream of the fluidization gas in the middle zone; c) withdrawing a second stream comprising the fluidization gas and optionally particles of a polymer of the at least one olefin from the top zone; characterized in that the temperature of the particles of the polymer of the at least one olefin in the fluidized bed (TPP) does not exceed 120% of the operating temperature set point (TS) of the polymerization reactor, wherein TPP and TS are both given in ° C., and the use of said process for polymerizing an olefin homo- or copolymer having a narrow particle size distribution.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of forming mixed xylenes from a heavy reformate using a dealkylation-transalkylation system that includes the step of introducing a heavy reformate containing methyl ethyl benzenes and tri-methyl benzenes and sufficiently free of toluene into the dealkylation stage with a hydrogen-containing material such that the heavy reformate and the hydrogen-containing material intermingle and contact a hydrodealkylation catalyst. The dealkylation-transalkylation system includes dealkylation stages, non-aromatic product gas separations and transalkylation stages. The BTEX component toluene forms from the reaction of methyl ethyl benzenes and hydrogen in the presence of the hydrodealkylation catalyst. The method also includes the step of introducing a dealkylated heavy reformate into the transalkylation stage such that the dealkylated heavy reformate contacts a transalkylation catalyst, forming a transalkylation stage product mixture that includes mixed xylenes.

Abstract: An apparatus of hydrocarbon fuel reactors separates and purifies carbon dioxide (CO2). Interconnected fluidized beds are applied in chemical-looping combustion. A multi-stage reduction reaction is processed with iron-based oxygen carriers. Three reduction stages using the iron-based oxygen carriers are accurately and completely controlled. Each of the three stages is separately processed in an individual space. Oxygen in the iron-based oxygen carriers can be fully released. High-purity CO2 is obtained. Hydrogen can be produced as an option. Horizontal connection of three reduction reactors is changed into vertical one. An oxidation reactor is further connected. Thus, the whole structure occupies less area and effectively uses vertical space. Not only small space is effectively used; but also high-volume capacity is obtained. Each of the reactors has better geometry flexibility. The tandem reactor in each layer has less geometric influence and limitation. Therefore, each of the reactors can be resized on its own.

Abstract: A hydrocracking system is upgraded by modifying an existing ebullated bed initially utilizing a supported ebullated bed catalyst to thereafter utilize a dual catalyst system that includes metal sulfide catalyst particles and supported ebullated bed catalyst. The upgraded hydrocracking system achieves at least one of: (1) hydroprocess lower quality heavy oil; (2) increase conversion of higher boiling hydrocarbons that boil at 524° C. (975° F.) or higher; (3) reduce the concentration of supported ebullated bed catalyst required to operate an ebullated bed reactor at a given conversion level; and/or (4) proportionally convert the asphaltene fraction in heavy oil at the same conversion level as the heavy oil as a whole. The metal sulfide catalyst may include colloidal or molecular catalyst particles less than 1 micron in size and formed in situ within the heavy oil using a catalyst precursor well-mixed within the heavy oil and decomposed to form catalyst particles.
