Abstract:
An apparatus and method for use with powdered resin feeders that provide a continuous stream of powder to a plurality of spray nozzles for the application of powder to a plurality of work-pieces. In one preferred embodiment, the apparatus converts a single powder stream into a plurality of uniform powder streams through the use of a multi-tiered system having dividers and receptacles that accurately divide a single powder stream into a plurality of powder streams. In another preferred embodiment, a double-ended stud having ends with differing break-away torques may be created by the device's ability to distribute different amounts of powder to the spray nozzles.
Abstract:
A powder atomizer comprises a pan, and an element journaled for rotation about an axis. The pan partially surrounds the element, and therewith defines a venturi into which powder is fed. The venturi has an inlet and a spaced outlet. A motor rotates the element within the pan in excess of the speed required to throw powder from the element by centrifugal force and draws gas through the venturi, so that powder fed into the element is atomized and produces a uniform cloud of particulate material. A nonconductive element minimizes the electrical charge on the pan, and thereby the resulting agglomerization of particulate material at the outlet.
Abstract:
A pressure gauge assembly is disposed between a pump which pumps a powder from a fluidized bed and a spray applicator which sprays the powder onto a workpiece such as a vehicle body moving along a painting line. The pressure gauge assembly provides and early warning of clogging in the pump and/or applicator.
Abstract:
A flat panel display spacer metering apparatus comprises a motor-driven rotatable disc, having a plurality of cavities distributed around a first surface of the disc. As the disc is rotated, its cavities are filled with spacers from a storage and fill device, configured as a hollow cylinder installed in a bore of a metering block. To facilitate transfer of spacer elements stored in the storage cylinder into cavities in the disc, an axially biased plunger continuously pushes the spacer elements against the first surface of the disc. As a result, whenever rotation of the disc exposes one or more of its cavities to the open end of the cylinder, spacers are forced into and fill the cavities. As the disc is further rotated and successive ones of its cavities are filled with spacers, the filled cavities are brought into alignment with a spacer element ejection head. The ejection head continuously directs a fluid, such as dry nitrogen gas against the cavity-containing surface of the disc. As a result, when a respective cavity becomes aligned with the fluid entry port, the forced gas supplied is directed into that cavity and forces all of the spacer elements within that cavity into an exhaust port, which is coupled to the electrostatic spray gun.
Abstract:
A powder coating apparatus feeds fine powdered coating material such as thermoplastic type material to a succession of discrete articles passing by the apparatus which includes a vibratory feeder bowl and a spiral track for delivering a substantially constant supply of powdered coating material to the articles. A sensor is also used to regulate an amount of powdered coating material supplied by an auger to the vibratory feeder. The invention also provides a powder feed system that deposits an excess of powdered coating material than that required to form the coating and provides for recirculation of the powder not ultimately used to form the coating back to the powder feeding apparatus.
Abstract:
Supplying method of powder paints wherein powder paint pellets are manufactured and stored as they are at the manufacture site and, when ordered, they are shipped and transported to the coater, and, at the coater site, they are stocked, and pulverized and classified into a sprayable powder upon powder coating thereby enabling to control the particle size of the powder paint while continuing the powder coating.A powder coating machine therefor pulverizes and classifies powder paint pellets into a sprayable powder at the coater site while continuing powder coating using the pulverized powder paint.

Abstract:
A storetank for a powder supply is disclosed which is capable of discharging the powder particles stored therein in a constant amount without the caking and blocking of the powder particles by a method different from the conventional method. The storetank according to the present invention is comprised of a tank for storing powder particles which has a substantially cylindrical side wall and a bottom portion, a powder outlet for discharging the powder particles which is provided at the lower end portion of the side wall of the tank, a plurality of vanes disposed radially on the bottom portion of the tank and equally spaced with respect to each other about the center axis of the tank, a rotary driving mechanism for rotating the vanes about the center axis of the tank, a canopy which extends from the vicinity of the outlet toward the inside of the tank and covers the space between two of the vanes located next to each other when the space is opposite the powder outlet, and an air ejection port which is disposed within the tank and ejects air toward the space opposite the powder outlet.
