Abstract:
The present invention discloses an apparatus for block type extrusion coating, and a process for forming block coating or grid-type coating on a substrate. The present invention uses a die set composed of an upper mold, a lower mold and a shim therebetween, which can be used to form a plurality of coated stripes. The present invention further uses several control valves, pumps and a controller to intermittently extrude a coating solution from the die set, so that the stripe coating is converted to a block coating. The block coated substrate can be rotated 90 degrees, followed by a stripe coating process to form a grid-type coating on the substrate.

A liquid crystal dispensing system includes a container to contain liquid crystal to be dispensed, a discharge pump to receive the liquid crystal from the container and to discharge the liquid crystal, a nozzle to dispense the liquid crystal discharged from the discharge pump onto a substrate, and a control unit to control a dispensing amount of liquid crystal discharged from the discharge pump and to compensate the dispensing amount when the dispensing amount of liquid crystal exceeds a limitation value.
Abstract:
There is provided a layer forming apparatus for forming a photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor, containing no bubbles in a coating liquid. In the layer forming apparatus for forming the photosensitive layer of the electrophotographic photoreceptor through the dip coating method, a lower end port of a dipping cylinder is distanced away in a horizontal direction from a coating liquid discharge port, and the coating liquid discharge port is disposed above the lower end port of the dipping cylinder, in order to prevent a bubble from moving into a coating liquid portion used for actual coating even when a bubble exits in the course of circulation of the coating liquid.
Abstract:
Pressure regulator with partial volumes for regulating the operating pressure of fluids, in particular adhesives, at the inlet of a consuming device, the first partial volume (14) being connectable to a fluid source and the second partial volume (24) being connectable to the fluid inlet of the consuming device, wherein the second partial volume (24) has a cylindrical section(24a) of variable size, a connecting channel (22) connecting the first (14) and the second (24) partial volumes, a valve disposed in the first partial volume for opening and closing the connecting channel, said valve having an insert (23) and a movable sealing piston (32), the front end of which forms a sealing body (34) for closing the connecting channel and the rear end of which is sealed against the first partial volume. A working piston (54) is disposed in the cylindrical section (24a) for changing the volume thereof, with a front end (59) facing the cylindrical section and the sealing piston, and with a piston rod (56) for moving the sealing piston, said piston rod (56) engaging the front end (59) of the sealing piston and forming an endstop for same. The rear end of the sealing piston and the front end of the working piston are exposed to the pressure of the fluid in the second partial volume (24) while a movable adjuster piston (92) is provided to which compressed air can be applied and which is coupled to the endstop that determines the extent to which the valve opens between its closed and its open positions.

Abstract:
An fountain applicator for applying coating liquid onto a web of paper carried past the applicator, has a coating liquid flow path that includes a curved surface along which a sheet of the coating liquid is flowed to subject the sheet to centrifugal force to cause air entrained in the coating liquid to move away from one side of the sheet that is toward the curved surface, so that the one side is relatively free of entrained air. After being flowed along the curved surface, the sheet of coating liquid is directed toward the web in a free standing jet curtain of coating liquid, to contact the web surface primarily with the one relatively air-free side of the coating liquid sheet to decrease the occurrence of skip coating on the web surface, especially when the web is traveling past the applicator at high speeds. The coating is applied in excess onto the web surface and is metered and leveled to a desired coat weight by a downstream doctor. The downstream doctor may comprise a single metering device, or it may comprise an intermediate metering device followed by a final metering and leveling device.
Abstract:
A material supply system includes a plunger pump, a pressure reducing valve, an accumulator and a dispenser. The plunger pump is connected with the pressure reducing valve by a primary supply line. The pressure reducing valve is connected with the dispenser by a secondary supply line. The accumulator is provided in the secondary supply line and has a spring. A pressure sensor senses the pressure nearly at the inlet port of the dispenser. The sensed pressure is the basis for controlling the pressure reduction ratio of the pressure reducing valve. The second chamber of the accumulator stores a sealing compound or other material. The second chamber varies in volume with the balance between the pressure in the secondary supply line and the force of the accumulator spring so as to relax the pressure fluctuation in this line.
Abstract:
An apparatus (1) for the application of a composition curable by irradiation to a fastener (2) having a conveyor (3) for conveying fasteners to an application station (5); an application station (10) comprising an applicator from which the composition is dispensed. The conveyor rotates the fasteners past the applicator for application of composition. The same or another conveyor (8) conveys the fasteners to an irradiation station (10) and rotates the fasteners for irradiation thereof. The irradiation station irradiates and thus cures the composition applied to each fastener. The invention also provides a curable composition for application to a threaded article, comprising a dispersion of: (i) components of a first cure mechanism comprising: (a) a (meth)acrylate functional monomer component; (b) a (meth)acrylate functional oligomer component; and (c) a photoinitiator component; (ii) components of a second cure mechanism comprising: (e) an amine component; and (f) an encapsulated epoxy resin component; together with (iii) a thickener component suitable to impart sufficient viscosity to the uncured composition to maintain the dispersion of the other components in the composition; wherein the photoinitiator component is suitable upon irradiation of the composition to achieve a first cure through the depth of the composition applied to a threaded article so that a binder matrix is formed with the components of the second cure mechanism dispersed through the matrix.
