Abstract:
Silicone grease comprising (A) an amino-modified silicone fluid having an amine equivalent of 10,000 to 200,000 g/mol and a viscosity of 10 to 100,000 cs at 25.degree. C., and (B) a thickener exhibits improved heat resistance and low-temperature resistance.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, and (A) an organic ammonium thiosulfate. The lubricating composition is either free of added lead containing compounds or additionally contains (B) a phosphorus or boron antiwear/extreme pressure agent, or both. The invention also includes greases and aqueous fluids containing organic ammonium thiosulfates. These compositions have improved antiwear, antiweld, extreme pressure and/or friction properties.
Abstract:
A grease composition for use as a cable filling material which contains about 75 to 95 parts by weight of a base component of a polyol or ester having a molecular weight of at least about 3000 and about 2 to 20 parts by weight of colloidal particles such as silica. Optionally, an antioxidant component can be added to impart high temperature resistance or a rubber component can be added to improve bleed resistance. Also, an article of manufacture of a cable having a sheath with one of the grease compositions of the invention located therein, and a method for filling the cable with such grease compositions.
Abstract:
A method for the start up of a concrete pump using a small amount of an aqueous suspension of polymers, amorphous silicone dioxide and water-reducer rather than a conventional cement slurry.
Abstract:
In a composition having one or more glycol-based diluents, one or more lubricants, and one or more inhibitors, the improvement comprising: (A) 0.001 to 1.0 percent by weight of one or more butylated hydroxytoluenes, and (B) 0.001 to 1.0 percent by weight of one or more metal borohydrides.
Abstract:
High performance overbased calcium sulfonate greases comprising up to about 28% by weight overbased calcium sulfonate, solid particles of colloidally dispersed calcium carbonate essentially in the form of calcite, a calcium soap of a fatty acid of twelve to twenty-four carbon atoms, and oleaginous vehicle wherein at a concentration of about 28% by weight overbased calcium sulfonate said greases have a worked cone penetration rating of less than about 295.
Abstract:
A solid lubricant additive for resin-bound friction lining mixtures contains manganous sulphide (MnS). The additive further optionally contains other sulphides, carbon carriers such as graphite and coke, phosphates and/or oxides. The additive results in the adjustment of the coefficient of friction and wear in friction lining materials. The additive may be advantageously employed in asbestos-free and lead-free friction lining mixtures in heavy-duty friction parts as used in brakes, clutches, synchromesh gears.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a grease for a slide contact which comprises (i) a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, (ii) 0.2-3.0 parts by weight of at least one inorganic substance whose mean particle size is 0.36 .mu. or less, selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide, ferric oxide, and clay minerals which produce magnesium oxide through thermal decomposition thereof at high temperature, (iii) 3-20 parts by weight of 12-hydroxy lithium stearate, and (iv) 0.1-5.0 parts by weight of phenolic and/or amine primary antioxidants, said blending amounts of the ingredients being based on 100 parts by weight of the grease.
Abstract:
An electro-rheological fluid comprising an electrically insulating liquid as the dispersion medium, porous solid particles as the dispersed phase, a dispersant, and a polyhydric alcohol having a boiling point of not lower than 250.degree. C., a melting point of not higher than 15.degree. C. and a viscosity of not higher than 300 cp (as measured at 20.degree. C.), or comprising an electrically insulating liquid as the dispersion medium, porous solid particles as the dispersed phase, a polyhydric alcohol and/or water, and an ashless dispersant.
Abstract:
A cyclophosphazene fluid composition containing organometallic or inorganic metal salts as antioxidants the antioxidants for use therein, and a method therefor, are disclosed herein. Suitable organometallic salts are formed by reacting a metal hydroxide with benzoic acid, substituted benzoic acids, or substituted phenols. The preferred inorganic metal salts effective for this purpose include various metal borates. The metal salt antioxidants are effective for reducing oxidation in the cyclophosphazene fluid in amounts of less than about 1% by weight of the overall composition.
