A printing apparatus 1000 records an image on a recording medium. The printing apparatus is provided with communication means for communicating with a digital camera 3012, digital camera recognizing means for recognizing the digital camera 3012, and status display means for displaying the operation status of the printing apparatus 1000. In a status where the status display means is displaying a status wherein a power supply is turned off, the communicating means communicates with the digital camera 3012. When the digital camera is recognized by the digital camera recognizing means, a display by the status display means can be changed from the printing apparatus side.

An image transmission system including an image processing device and a communicating device which are communicable with each other through an access point in an infrastructure mode through an “m” channel, wherein upon a communication failure in the infrastructure mode, the communication mode is switched from the infrastructure mode to an ad hoc mode in which the two devices are directly communicable with each other through an “n” channel. During the communication in the ad hoc mode, the “m” channel is scanned to detect the access point at a predetermined time interval, and upon detection of the access point through the “m” channel, the communication mode is switched back to the infrastructure mode.

The present invention relates to a digital camera that includes a wireless modem for transferring images via a wireless network. Before taking photos, the user can select various configuration settings, one of which uploads tagged images to a photo service provider or other website. If a network connection is not available when images are captured, the camera automatically wakes up later to check for network availability. If a suitable network connection is available, the camera operates in a reduced power state to upload the images from the camera. Data indicating whether or not each image has been uploaded and/or transferred via the wireless network is stored in the camera, and icons are displayed along with the images, to indicate to the user whether or not an image has been transferred to their computer or uploaded to their website.

An image forming system capable of determining whether a detected communication speed reaches a communication speed needed for printing the received printing data successfully according to printing ability of an image forming apparatus. A detection unit detects a communication speed of wireless communication executed between the image forming apparatus and an information processing apparatus. An obtainment unit obtains a communication speed needed so that the image forming apparatus successfully prints the print data that is received by using wireless communication according to a printing ability of the image forming apparatus. A determination unit determines whether the communication speed detected by the detection unit reaches the communication speed obtained by the obtainment unit or not. A notification unit notifies a user that the detected communication speed is insufficient when the determination unit determines that the communication speed detected by the detection unit does not reach the communication speed obtained by the obtainment unit.
