Method for the production of urea from ammonia and carbon dioxide in a urea plant containing a high-pressure synthesis section with a horizontal pool condenser, wherein the method comprises exchanging heat from a high pressure process medium received in a shell section of the pool condenser to a medium pressure urea containing solution received in a first heat exchanging section provided in the pool condenser to at least decompose ammonium carbamate into NH3 and CO2, wherein the method further comprises exchanging heat from the high pressure process medium to a low pressure steam condensate received in a second heat exchanging section provided in the pool condenser to produce low pressure steam. The invention also relates to an apparatus for the production of urea from ammonia and carbon dioxide.

A method and arrangement for recovering lithium carbonate from a raw material containing lithium, which method comprises pulping (1) the raw material containing lithium in the presence of water and sodium carbonate for producing a slurry containing lithium from the raw material containing lithium. After pulping the lithium-containing slurry is leached (2) for dissolving the lithium in the solution thus producing a solution containing lithium carbonate. After pulping and leaching the method comprises carbonating (3) the solution containing lithium carbonate by using carbon dioxide under atmospheric conditions for producing a solution containing lithium bicarbonate and separating (4) the solids form the solution. The solution containing lithium bicarbonate is purified (5) to produce a purified solution containing lithium bicarbonate, and recovering by crystallising (6) lithium carbonate from the purified lithium bicarbonate-containing solution.

A method and device for producing polyphosphoric acid burns a fuel in combustion air in a combustion chamber, sprays a spray fluid comprising substantially pure orthophosphoric acid and undertakes polymerization-condensation of the pure orthophosphoric acid. A polyphosphoric acid in the form of an acid mist accompanied by formation of gases which mix with combustion gases resulting from burning of the fuel is formed to reach a predetermined temperature, wherein the mixture causes sudden lowering of combustion gas temperature. The acid mix is separated from the gas mixture and the polyphosphoric acid is collected at a bottom of the combustion chamber and the gas mixture is outputted via a lower part of the combustion chamber separate from the collection of polyphosphoric acid.

The present invention relates to an apparatus comprising a reactor body to which gas and water are supplied to create a gas hydrate; an upper cover which is engaged to an upper portion of the reactor body, a scraper mounted rotationally within the reactor body, and a motor for providing a driving force to the scraper. It is possible to remove gas hydrate particles attached to at least one of an inner surface of the reactor body and an inner surface of the upper cover, by a rotary driving of the scraper. According to the invention, it is possible to prevent a material hindering a heat transfer by attaching on a wall surface of the reactor, through a process of scraping out gas hydrate particles, when the scraper which is rotationally driven about a center axis of the reactor is close to the inner surface of the reactor.

A method and system of fixing carbon dioxide is provided. After metal ion components are extracted from, e.g., natural mineral or steel slag through acid treatment, carbon dioxide is injected to fix carbon dioxide by carbonating the same. Since the procedure of pH adjustment is unnecessary, the reaction is carried out effectively and a continuous process is enabled. Accordingly, the disclosed method of fixing carbon dioxide enables effective removal of carbon dioxide produced from the steelmaking industry, thereby significantly reducing greenhouse gas emission and allowing recycling of the discarded steel slag.

A reactor tank is provided having an enzyme inlet, a heating jacket positioned around the exterior center of the tank, a gas outlet communicating with a vacuum apparatus and a condensing unit, a first gas inlet for receiving gas from a feed tank and a first liquid outlet for recirculating the liquid back to the feed tank. The tank further includes a sparged unit connected to the first gas inlet for receiving gas from the feed tank and a screen positioned between the sparged unit and the first liquid outlet. The reactor tank is utilized in a reactor system further including a condensing unit, vacuum pump or venturi valve, a first feed tank, a coalescer having at least one circulation pipe and a first circulation pump.

Disclosed are process and apparatus for vertical splitting of the oxygen supply to a post-oxidation reactor. Further disclosed are process and apparatus for supplying reaction medium to a post-oxidation reactor at a mid-level inlet. Such apparatus and process can assist in reducing oxygen pinch throughout the post-oxidation reactor.

The present invention relates to an apparatus of the loop Venturi reactor type for the continuous reaction of liquids with gases, in particular for hydrogenations, oxidations or acetylations, e.g. for the preparation of toluenediamine by hydrogenation of dinitrotoluene, and a process for the continuous reaction of liquid reactants with gaseous reactants in the apparatus. In the apparatus of the invention, the diversion of an internal circulatory flow in the reactor is effected by means of a diversion pan which is arranged underneath a heat exchanger.

Methods and apparatuses for reducing an aromatic concentration in a hydrocarbon stream are provided. In an embodiment, a method for reducing an aromatic concentration in a hydrocarbon stream includes saturating aromatics in the hydrocarbon stream to form a low aromatic hydrocarbon stream comprising no more than about 2 weight percent (wt %) aromatics. Further, the method includes passing the low aromatic hydrocarbon stream through an adsorption zone to remove aromatics therefrom to form an aromatic-depleted product stream comprising less than about 10 weight parts per million (wppm) aromatics.

Disclosed are a process and an apparatus for synthesizing nitroalkanes by reaction of a hydrocarbon feedstock with aqueous nitric acid. Energy and capital costs may be reduced by recycling a majority of the aqueous phase back to the reactor.
