Abstract: A system comprising a first reactor, a second reactor fluidly connected with the first reactor, and a liquid-solid separator fluidly connected with the second reactor. The first reactor is operable to produce an aqueous bicarbonate solution from captured carbon dioxide (CO2), and an aqueous alkaline solution. The second reactor is configured to produce hydrogen gas and a mixture comprising metal carbonate agglomerates by contacting the aqueous bicarbonate solution from the first reactor with zero-valent metal particulates. The metal carbonate agglomerates comprise a carbonate of the metal on a surface of the zero-valent metal particulates, and the zero-valent metal particulates comprise a zero-valent metal. The liquid-solid separator is configured to receive the mixture from the second reactor and separate the metal carbonate agglomerates from a recovered aqueous alkaline solution.

Abstract: A processing system and method of producing a particulate material from a liquid mixture are provided. The processing system generally includes a system inlet connected to one or more gas lines to deliver one or more gases into the processing system, one or more power jet modules adapted to jet a liquid mixture into one or more streams of droplets and to force the one or more streams of droplets into the processing system, and a reaction chamber adapted to deliver the one or more streams of droplets in the presence of the one or more gases and process the one or more streams of droplets into the particulate material. The method includes delivering one or more gases into a processing system, jetting the liquid mixture into one or more first droplets streams using one or more power jet modules of the processing system and into the processing system, and reacting the one or more first droplets streams delivered from the processing chamber inside a reaction chamber of the processing system in the presence of the one or more gases into the particulate material at a first temperature.

Abstract: A process for the efficient transfer of molecules between phases employing mesoporous poly (aryl ether ketone) hollow fiber membranes is provided. The method addresses the controlled transfer of reactants into and removal of reaction products from a reaction media and the removal and separation of target molecules from process streams by membrane-assisted liquid-liquid extraction. A number of possible modes of liquid-liquid extraction are possible according to the invention by utilizing porous poly (aryl ether ketone) hollow fiber membranes of Janus-like structure that exhibit a combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface characteristics. The method of the present invention can address the continuous manufacture of chemicals in membrane reactors and is useful for a broad range of separation applications, including separation and recovery of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Abstract: Disclosed are processes and systems for oxidizing cycloalkylbenzene such as cyclohexylbenzene to make an oxygenate such as a hydroperoxide thereof. A liquid distributor having multiple liquid ingress ports is used for supplying a cycloalkylbenzene-containing liquid into an oxidation reactor in the form of liquid streams forming part of the reaction medium. A gas distributor distributing an O2-containing gas into the reaction medium in the form of gas streams is preferably located below the liquid distributor. Preferably the gas bubbles upwards in the reaction medium. The agitation and mixing provided by the liquid streams, gas streams/bubbles result in sufficient homogeneity of cycloalkylbenzene concentration, cycloalkylbenzene hydroperoxide concentration, dissolved oxygen concentration, and temperature in the liquid phase.

Abstract: A method and device for producing polyphosphoric acid burns a fuel in combustion air in a combustion chamber, sprays a spray fluid comprising substantially pure orthophosphoric acid and undertakes polymerization-condensation of the pure orthophosphoric acid. A polyphosphoric acid in the form of an acid mist accompanied by formation of gases which mix with combustion gases resulting from burning of the fuel is formed to reach a predetermined temperature, wherein the mixture causes sudden lowering of combustion gas temperature. The acid mix is separated from the gas mixture and the polyphosphoric acid is collected at a bottom of the combustion chamber and the gas mixture is outputted via a lower part of the combustion chamber separate from the collection of polyphosphoric acid.
