Abstract:
A method for predetermining a thickness of a coating which is to be arranged on a substrate is provided. A spray spot is arranged on a surface of the substrate or a test substrate. The volume of the spray spot is determined, and based on the determined volume, the thickness of a layer which is to be applied is worked out. An arrangement for predetermining the thickness of a coating is further provided.
Abstract:
A method and system for the spray application of epoxy materials is provided. The system includes a dual walled tank structure as a reservoir for containing and preheating the epoxy materials in preparation for mixing and spray application. Each component of the epoxy material is preheated before the components are mixed. After preheating, the components are then mixed together and spray applied. The method and system of the present invention provides a high quality spray applied epoxy coating while reducing equipment down time and cleaning.
Abstract:
A coating apparatus for coating a perimeter surface of a pipeline. A frame selectively mounts a sprayer on the pipeline. The sprayer can spray fluid along a flow path in a spraying mode and preparation mode. In the preparation mode, a fluid diverter moves into the flow path to divert the fluid delivered from the sprayer away from the pipeline. In the spraying mode, the fluid diverter moves out of the flow path to permit the sprayer to coat the perimeter surface of the pipeline with a curable liquid. A vacuum system can draw a vacuum through the diverter to remove the fluid the sprayer sprays in the preparation mode. The flow path can be located in a spray shroud. The diverter can fluidly couple the vacuum system to the shroud interior in the spraying mode to remove overspray.
Abstract:
A mobile spray dispenser comprises a fluid circulation system and a heating unit. The fluid circulation system has a motorized pump capable of circulating fluid from a fluid reservoir in a high-pressure spray mode and a low-pressure recirculation mode, and of providing the fluid to a sprayer. The motorized pump draws lower power in the low-pressure recirculation mode than in the high-pressure spray mode. The heating unit is disposed within the fluid circulation system to heat the fluid to a target temperature, and comprises a primary heater and a boost heater. The primary heater is configured to be active during both the high-pressure spray mode and the low-pressure recirculation mode. The boost heater is in fluid series with the primary heater, and is configured to be active only during the low-pressure recirculation mode.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for open-atmosphere flame based spraying employs a nozzle to preheat, pressurize and atomize a mechanically pumped reactive and flammable liquid solution through a small orifice or a nozzle and then a set of pilot flames to combust the spray. The liquid feedstock is preheated to a supercritical temperature before reaching the nozzle and is pressurized before spraying due to a reduced size of the outlet port of the feedstock flow channel relative to the inlet. A supplementary collimating, or sheathing, gas is supplied to the flow channel of the feedstock and both the feedstock and the supplementary gas are uniformly heated before spraying. This arrangement helps to avoid clogging of the nozzle and results in satisfactory control of the properties of the particulate products of the spraying procedure.
Abstract:
A system for applying viscous substances is formed from a liquid and a granular solid. The system comprises a liquid circuit with a liquid containment unit. A liquid line and conveying means circulate the liquid from the liquid containment unit into the liquid line. A solid circuit with a storage unit stores the granular solids. A solid line and conveying means circulate the granular solids from the storage unit into the solid line. A mixing device is connected to the liquid line and to the solid line. The mixing device has a body that is adapted to receive liquids from the liquid line and granular solids from the solid line. The body mixes the liquids and granular solids into a viscous substance. The body has an outlet to apply the viscous substance mixed in the body. A method for applying a viscous substance is also provided.
Abstract:
A method of applying wax to the top surface of a surfboard. The method may include heating the wax until the wax is molten and in liquid form. Then the liquid wax may be applied to the surface. The liquid wax may then cool and harden on the top surface of the surfboard. In certain embodiments, designs, ripples and patterns may be formed on the liquid wax when the liquid wax is on the surfboard.
Abstract:
A fluid heating system for heating and dispensing fluid in a primary fluid flow path is disclosed, and may include a reservoir defining an interior for holding a quantity of a fluid, with the interior being in fluid communication with the primary fluid flow path such that the quantity of fluid in the interior is able to flow into the primary fluid flow path. A primary pump may be configured to pump fluid in the primary fluid flow path, the primary pump being in fluid communication with the primary fluid flow path. A fluid dispensing device may be configured to selectively dispense fluid from the primary fluid flow path. A steam injection apparatus may be in communication with the interior of the reservoir device to inject steam into the interior to heat fluid located in the interior of the reservoir.
