Abstract:
It is possible to give ultrathin and uniform coating on a flexible web in scraping-off type coating. The distribution of pressure in a web width direction is adjusted by a pressure distribution adjusting device when an excess of coating liquid excessively applied is scraped off by a doctor blade by giving relative pressure to a coating surface of a web and the doctor blade after applying the coating liquid that is more excessive than the desired quantity of the coating liquid on the web by a precoating apparatus while making the web continuously travel.
Abstract:
A treatment equipment, which is intended to be installed in connection with a moving surface. The treatment equipment includes a frame and a blade holder formed from composite material as a single piece and connected to the frame. In addition, a blade is fitted to the blade holder, the bevelled edge belonging to which is arranged to be brought into contact with the moving surface by moving the blade holder. In the blade holder, there is also a separate backing blade, which is fitted at one edge into the blade holder, the other edge extending closer than the blade holder to the said bevelled edge.
Abstract:
A polymeric printing member for use in a printing machine is provided. The polymeric printing member includes a substrate and a coating applied to the substrate. The coating is applied to the substrate by rotating the substrate about its longitudinal axis and applying the coating from an applicator to the substrate in a spiral pattern in a controlled amount so that substantially all the coating that exits the applicator adheres to said substrate.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for applying a coating substance to a continuous paper web in a process for producing abrasion-resistant laminates for manufacturing decorative paper. The coating substance consists of a viscous mixture of melamine resin and alphacellulose to which particles of corundum are added, and is applied to the visible surface of the paper. The inventive device includes a deflector roll (2) on which the paper web (1) lies in an area in which it loops around; a metering roll (6) which is arranged parallel to the deflector roll (2) and forms the boundary of a gap with the same, and which is driven synchronously or almost synchronously with the deflector roll; a slit nozzle (7) for applying the coating substance either directly to the paper web (1) on the deflector roll (2) or to the metering roll (6); and a doctor blade of a rectangular piece (9) of flexible rubber type material. This material is fixed on one side by its back edge, parallel to the axes of the two rolls (2,6) and lies loosely on the upper end of the paper web (1) running off of the deflector roll (2).

Abstract:
The invention is a coating blade for coating a paper web and a method of using the same. The coating blade includes a notch in its thickness on the tension side of the blade toward the coating end, above the fulcrum such that it has the advantages of both thick and thin coating blades.
Abstract:
A doctor for applying material, having a pressing part (doctor body) bending elasticly in the longitudinal direction and corresponding to the application width and a row of segments for pressing the pressing part, the segments (20) are connected in link-like manner by web or holding parts (203, 29, 39, 4, 40 to 48) to a unit-forming pressing device (2) pressing at least one pressing part (3, 30, 31, 32, 36), and the segments (20) being held independently to the pressing part (3, 30, 31, 32, 36).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for coating both faces of a moving web, such as a paper web, in which the web is fed longitudinally at a speed in excess of 300 meters per minute, between a rotating support roller and a blade, the blade having a bevel at the point of contact with the web. Coating material is fed into the nip between the roller and the web to coat the paper web on both faces. The angle which the blade forms with is chosen to be not greater than 20.degree. and the bevel width, as measured in the direction of movement of the web, is at most 0.15 centimeters. Preferably the blade is urged against the web with a force not exceeding 0.20 kgf per centimeter width of web.
Abstract:
A doctor blade for scraping printing ink from a surface of a printing plate, comprising a flat and elongated main body having a working edge area formed in a longitudinal direction, the working edge area being coated with at least one first coating on the basis of a nickel-phosphorus alloy, and is characterized in that the first coating contains at least one additional component for improving the wear behavior of the doctor blade.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing a coated substrate using a compact, easy to handle and automated coating apparatus that can prepare coated composite in a single batch process, with sufficient control over each portion of the coating apparatus. The coating apparatus may include a coating unit, a drying unit and a pressing unit sequentially arranged in a single line to produce the coated substrate.
