Abstract: A device and method for applying a material to a hard surface. The device has a sensor and one or more applicator nozzles. The device further includes a reservoir for containing a material to be deposited, and a CPU. The method includes providing information from the sensor about the surface to the CPU, which uses the information to identify where the material is to be deposited and/or how much to deposit.

Abstract: A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile having stitches and a reinforcement layer operatively connected to the stitches to provide dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. The reinforcement layer is made of fibers and adhesive that are formed into a reinforcement layer of laminated fibers that is operatively connected to the stitches and/or the fibers and adhesive are formed into a layer of fibers and adhesive that is contained within the stitches. The fibers and adhesive are mixed and then moved by an applicator toward the stitches. A curved slip path is formed on a curved portion of the applicator to improve the movement of the fibers and adhesive toward the stitches. A removable tip portion on the end of the curved portion of the applicator improves the penetration of the adhesive and provides compression of the fibers towards the ends of the stitches. A releasable adhesive cover system is provided to cover the layer of fibers for providing additional strength and stability and for providing a releasable attachment of the universal floor covering to a supporting surface.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a structured, at least partly optically transparent varnish surface on a surface of a substrate board, preferably of a wood material board, having a decoration. The steps of the method include applying a transparent or at least partly transparent varnish to an applicator roll thereby producing a structured varnish surface and transferring the structured varnish surface to a substrate board having a decoration. The varnish is applied to the applicator roll by a plurality of digitally controlled nozzles in a distribution defining a structure and/or is transformed on the applicator roll into a distribution defining a structure. Furthermore, a device for carrying out the method is described.

Abstract: Fingerprint-erasing cured films for rendering fingerprint depositions on various surfaces quickly less visible, or invisible; a manufacturing method therefor; a display or touch panel using the same; and electronic devices using these are provided. A liquid coating film including a solvent and a polymerizable resin composition curable by an activating energy beam is formed. In a state of the solvent being included within the film, the film is cured to form a cured film containing the solvent, preferably using a release material whose surface has undergone matte processing; and the solvent is evaporated in a subsequent drying step, whereby a cured film with a multitude of micropores on the surface is formed. Fingerprint soiling is rendered not readily visible or invisible. By using the cured film, there are obtained displays, touch panels, and electronic devices having fingerprint-erasability. To improve fingerprint-erasability, adding a water-absorbent compound to the film composition is preferable.

Abstract: A wiper system configured to apply and wipe one or more coatings on a rigid tube includes a tapered wiper tapering between a wider end defining an inlet orifice and a narrower end defining an exit orifice. The narrower end of the tapered wiper includes a series of slits arranged circumferentially around the exit orifice. The slits define a series of resilient tabs configured to deflect radially outward when contacted by one or more formations on an outer surface of the rigid tube and configured to return to a neutral position when the one or more formations have passed through the exit orifice. The wiper system may also include a gimbal supporting the tapered wiper. The gimbal is configured to permit the tapered wiper to rotate about first and second mutually perpendicular axes when the tapered wiper is contacted by a bowed rigid tube.

Abstract: A balloon catheter that includes an elongated main body, a balloon connected to the elongated main body, and a base layer on the outer surface of the balloon. The base layer includes a water-soluble low-molecular weight compound. The balloon catheter also includes a plurality of elongate bodies extending radially away from the outer surface of the balloon. The elongate bodies are crystals of a water-insoluble drug. The elongate bodies each possesses an independent longitudinal axis. At least part of at least some of the elongate bodies are located in the interior of the base layer on the outer surface of the balloon.

Abstract: A balloon catheter that includes an elongated main body extending in an axial direction and a balloon connected to the distal portion of the elongated main body. The balloon includes an interior and is inflatable and deflatable. The balloon catheter also includes a plurality of elongate bodies extending radially away from the outer surface of the balloon. The elongate bodies are crystals of a water-insoluble drug. The elongate bodies each possess an independent longitudinal axis. Each of the elongate bodies includes a base portion at the proximal end of the elongate body. A plurality of elongate body proximal portions extend radially inwardly from the base portion of each of the elongate bodies toward the interior of the balloon. The elongate body proximal portions are continuous extensions of the crystal of the water-insoluble drug.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of making carbon nanotube-coated substrates by dissolving carbon nanotubes in a solvent to form a carbon nanotube solution; and coating a surface of a substrate with the carbon nanotube solution to form one or more carbon nanotube layers on the surface of the substrate. The carbon nanotube solution may include a superacid solvent. A cable made out of the carbon nanotube-coated substrates may include one or more internal insulating layers that surround the surface of one or more internal conductors. Carbon nanotube solutions may be coated onto the one or more internal insulating layers to form one or more carbon nanotube layers. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to carbon nanotube-coated substrates formed by the methods of the present disclosure. The carbon nanotube-coated substrates may include one or more carbon nanotube layers derived from a carbon nanotube solution.

Abstract: A tool for producing a layer with a micro structured outer surface on a substrate surface is provided. The tool includes an elastic matrix web with a negative of the micro structure to be produced, an elastic pressure roller that is movable over a surface, and at least one guiding element for guiding the elastic matrix web relative to the pressure roller. The pressure roller and the matrix web are arranged in such a manner that when the pressure roller is moved over the substrate surface, the negative on the matrix web faces the substrate surface. In this manner particularly good directional stability and guiding precision of the matrix web can be achieved.
