Abstract:
A partition portion includes a proximal portion fixed to the outer periphery of the peripheral wall portion and a sealing member mounted to the proximal portion in a manner that the sealing member is allowed to move in inner and outer circumferential directions of the peripheral wall portion. When receiving a force toward an outer circumferential direction, the sealing member is moved in the outer circumferential direction, and a distal end portion thereof is held in press-contact with a sliding contact portion of a ventilation member with a force generated along with the above-mentioned force.
Abstract:
A drum-type coating apparatus for applying breading material to food products is configured to eliminate, in most circumstances, a hard cylindrical drum, to be replaced by a U-hanging belt, the belly of which provides all the operative utility of a cylindrical hard drum, but better than that, provides more clearance for cleaning operations, since the upper hemi-cylinder of a hard cylindrical drum provides no utility for tumbling purposes and only, to make matters worse, obstructs cleaning operations.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to foamed binders for wood strand products and methods and systems for producing wood strand products using foamed binders. In some embodiments, the disclosure includes a method for producing a wood strand product from cellulosic particles, the method comprising the steps of foaming a phenol formaldehyde binder to produce a foam, tumbling the cellulosic particles in a rotary blender, applying the foam to the cellulosic particles in the rotary blender, blending the cellulosic particles and the foam so that the foam covers the cellulosic particles, and consolidating the cellulosic particles under heat and pressure.
Abstract:
In a method for forming an adhesive layer on the surface of a workpiece before the formation of a coating film containing a powder on the workpiece, the present invention provides a method for forming the adhesive layer having a desired thickness. This object is achieved by the following method: An adhesive layer formation medium m1 coated with an adhesive material is made to collide with a workpiece W so that the adhesive material is transferred from the adhesive layer formation medium m1 to the workpiece W and forms an adhesive layer on the workpiece. An adhesive layer having a desired thickness can be formed on the workpiece by regulating the thickness of the adhesive material applied to the surface of the adhesive layer formation medium (i.e. the amount of the adhesive material held by a single adhesive layer formation medium). This enables the thickness of the powder coating as the final product to be controlled as desired.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a coating drum (60) for a single drum or, as the case may be, a multi-drum circulating coating device. The inside of the drum is subdivided into two rotation-symmetrical drum chambers (61 and 62) via a separating wall (67), which chambers are fillable with equal dispensed amounts of small parts through oppositely lying openings (73) of the drum casing (63). The openings (73) are closeable via lids or covers (68) provided pivotable on the drum (60).
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for uniformly contacting an article with a treatment solution. Preferred embodiments are methods of uniformly tinting of contact lenses or uniformly surface modifying contact lenses. The method involves suspending the lens in the treatment solution by application of fluid flow, preferably sinusoidal or pulsed, in a direction opposite the stagnant force (i.e., sum of buoyancy and gravity forces) on the article. The fluid flow prevents the lens from contacting the container structure for periods sufficient to cause non-uniform treatment conditions, while continuously mixing the treatment solution to maintain uniform concentrations throughout.
Abstract:
Conveyors are provided for tumbling and transferring parts to be subjected to treatments, including electroplating in a series of treatment tanks. The conveyors are supported on the treatment tanks for pivotal movement between a position in which the parts are received from a parts feeder to a treatment position in which the parts are subjected to tumbling and immersion within a treatment solution to a drain position for during of the treatment solution and drying and next to a discharge position where they are discharged either to another conveyor in a next treatment tank or to a subsequent station for further processing. Movement of the conveyors to the several positions is carried out by tilt devices which vary the slope of the upper run of each conveyor. A plating tank includes anode baskets disposed adjacent the load-receiving end of the upper run of the conveyor and cathode danglers for contacting the parts on the upper run to establish a current path comprising danglers, the parts, the electrolytic solution and the anodes. Circulation of electrolyte is provided establishing a circulation path past the anodes through an inlet opening in the parts receiving hopper portions of the conveyor.
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for uniformly coating particulate material. The apparatus includes a frame, a cylindrical drum rotatable about an axis tilted with respect to a horizontal plane, and a spray nozzle extending into the drum so as to spray a coating solution onto the particulate material tumbled within the rotating drum. Perforations in the side wall of the drum allow a flow of air through the drum so as to dry the material within the drum as it is coated with solution. A vacuum system removes the coated seeds from the drum without manual handling. In operation, the seeds form a dense mass, and migrate away from the mass as the seeds increase in size and weight from the sprayed coating. Eventually, all of the particles are uniformly coated, and thus a new mass is formed and the process repeated until the material reaches a desired size.
Abstract:
A method of and an apparatus for sugar coating, the apparatus comprising: a rotatable vessel for containing a material to be coated; a baffle 9 movable independently of the rotatable vessel; a baffle mounting shaft 10 having a bent construction, for mounting the baffle 9 thereon; and a hydraulic cylinder for rocking the baffle mounting shaft 10 to displace the baffle 9. Load cells 17a and 17b for detecting the position of the baffle 9 relative to an accumulated layer M of a material to be coated are provided on the baffle 9. The load cells 17a and 17b serves for holding the position of the baffle 9 relative to the accumulated layer M of the material to be coated at all times, on the basis of a load imposed due to the presence of the contact with the material to be coated.
