Abstract:
A wastewater concentrator system is portable and scalable to effectively process up to forty thousand gallons of wastewater per day and more. The system has a portable assembly including a liquid evaporator assembly, gas-liquid separator, and exhaust assembly carried by a skid, which can be carried as a single unit on a mobile platform. The liquid evaporator assembly includes wastewater injection nozzles arranged to minimize buildup of material inside a mixing chamber. The gas-liquid separator has top access doors for installing and removing demister panels through a top wall and a sump adapted to provide scalability of the system to larger processing capacities while maintaining the portability. The system is adapted for connection to a plurality of heated gas sources and includes a control system designed to maintain a selected operating condition regardless of variations in the amount of heated gases supplied.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing and an apparatus for making an aqueous chlorine solution having a pH between 3.0 and 6.5 and a stability such that after 6 weeks storage at 20 degrees Celsius the pH remains in the range 3.0 to 6.5 and the amount of chlorine lost from the solution is less than 10%, such that the method includes:(a) Providing a source of water having an electrical conductivity at 20 degrees Celsius of no more than 50 (and preferably no more than 4.3) μScm-1 (b) Reacting the water with solid calcium hypochlorite having a purity of at least 60%; and (c) Adjusting the pH to between 3.0 and 6.5.
Abstract:
A wastewater concentrator a liquid evaporator assembly, a gas-liquid separator, an exhaust assembly, and a flowback water concentrating system. The flowback water concentrating system includes a settling tank fluidly connected to the gas-liquid separator and a supernatant liquid concentration sensor for measuring a concentration of dissolved solids in the supernatant liquid in the settling tank.
Abstract:
A self-contained water polishing system includes at least a first containment basin that has an inlet for inflow of water from a collection source and contains calcium carbonate for treatment of water flowing through the system; at least a first polishing basin in communication with the containment basin and that contains at least a first pollutant collection substrate for treatment of water flowing through the system; and a vacuum pumping system in fluid communication with the containment and polishing basins that draws water through the polishing system.
Abstract:
An apparatus for controlling chemical properties of a body of water, the apparatus comprising: a housing, said housing comprising: a water sample collecting subassembly; chemical reagent dispensing subassembly; a water diagnostic subassembly; and a control module, said control module disposed on the housing, said control module comprising: a means for inputting desired functional parameters and water chemical properties into the apparatus; a means for measuring the actual physical conditions of the water; a means for comparing the actual physical conditions of the water to the desired physical conditions of the water; and a means for instructing the system to dispense chemical reagents to the water at a rate and dosage necessary to cause the water to generally achieve the desired physical conditions within a desired period of time and for a desired time period; and a means for displaying the apparatus parameters and water chemical properties in human readable form.
Abstract:
A device for sea water desalination and power generation, including: a tidal current turbine, a coupling, a revolving shaft, a booster pump, and a body. The body includes a chamber, a divider, and an end cover. The divider and the end cover are in fixed connection to the body, and the divider divides the chamber into a closed pumping chamber and a closed desalination and power generation chamber. The booster pump is disposed in the pumping chamber and is driven by the revolving shaft. The tidal current turbine is connected to the revolving shaft via the coupling. The desalination and power generation chamber includes a seawater pretreatment device, a seawater desalinating unit including an unsteady reverse osmosis membrane, a flow battery, and a controller. The booster pump is connected to the seawater pretreatment device via an inlet tube, and is connected to the seawater desalinating unit via an outlet tube.
Abstract:
An oil absorbing article which includes an oil absorbent material which is stable against melting at a temperature of at least about 100° F. in an aqueous environment; a receptacle for holding the oil absorbent material having a porous material which is stable against melting at a temperature of at least about 100° F. in an aqueous environment and which permits the passage of water and oil components through the receptacle; and a flexible handle attached to the receptacle for hanging the oil absorbent article in the aqueous environment. Also, a method for using the oil absorbing article by placing the article in an aqueous environment having a temperature of at least about 100° F. and which is contaminated with oil components for a period of time sufficient to remove at least a portion of the oil components.

Abstract:
A field water purification system is described. The field water purification system includes a container and a filter coupled to an outlet port of the container. The container includes a first layer and a second layer of polymeric material. A first edge of the first layer is bonded to a first edge of the second layer. A second edge of the first layer is bonded to a second edge of the second layer. A first end of the first layer is bonded to a first end of the second layer. The outlet port is disposed in the first layer at a first distance from the first end. A flat water filter is also described. A method for treating water is also described.
Abstract:
The present invention is uniquely engineered and provides water treatment devices for treatment of water in a small community or individual who are out of reach of access to safe water for domestic use, reach of adequate resources and reside in rural setting. Water treatment device of the invention are flexible, light weight and have high capacity.
