Abstract:
The device is of the frustum dispersion type having a housing forming a conical cavity, sealed at its large end, tapering to a discharge orifice at the other end. There is a fluid inlet, which tangential to the cavity near the sealed end. There is a hollow, tapered helix cut cone shape in the center of the cavity, affixed to the sealed end, with the point thereof axially aligned with the discharge orifice to help enable the continuous swirling motion of the contained fluid and to act as a gas inlet port to start the formation of a gas vortex. As fluid in the cavity approaches the discharge orifice, it is accelerated because of the reduction of area inside the cavity as it tapers. The change in specific gravities between the fluid and the gas causes a swirling centrifugal force on the liquid and a centripetal inner swirling of the gas. The result is at the point of discharge, the fluid is heavily loaded with small bubbles of gas.

A system is also provided for sanitizing and deodorizing water, food, surfaces and air including a microbiological reduction filter device having an input connected to a water supply, a venturi injector disposed within a housing and connected to an output of the microbiological reduction filter device which generates ozone and mixes the generated ozone with the water, and an electrode assembly comprising a plurality of electrodes, a dielectric for generating the ozone, and a knob extending outside of the housing. The dielectric in a first embodiment and the entire dielectric assembly in a second embodiment can be removed from the housing and replaced in its entirety by the knob.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and system for treating carbonaceous waste materials. The method includes contacting the waste with ozone in order to promote oxidation of the organic materials in the waste. The process can be carried out in a large waste storage facility such as a lagoon, a pond, or an aboveground storage facility. In one embodiment, the process can be utilized for treatment of waste in remote access locations, such as on shipboard or other remote or isolated locations. The method can be used in an on-going batch or continuous treatment process or can be used for remediation and reclamation of storage facilities. The invention is also directed to a self-contained unit capable of treating small amount of waste. The treatment unit can be used to treat waste in isolated areas such as, for example, medical waste generated in medical or research facilities.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process and a system for processing waste water containing organic compounds. The system includes a UV/ozone oxidation removal module, or one or more removal modules connected in series whereas such a serial connection can be continuous or discontinuous. A UV/ozone oxidation removal module mainly includes an ozone generator, an ozone injector, an ozone dissolution tank, an ozone decomposition device, a UV reaction tank, a recycling pipeline. The efficiency of the UV/ozone oxidation removal module is controlled by the recycling ratio, the ozone concentration, and the intensity of UV light.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a horizontal foam fractionation protein skimmer for removing organic waste material (dissolved organic compounds) from organic loaded water. The protein skimmer includes a horizontal reaction chamber connected to a foam collection chamber in which protein-loaded foam containing organic waste material is collected. The reaction chamber is comprised of a series of horizontally-directed, nested, concentric tubes for increasing the number and decreasing the size of bubbles to facilitate efficient removal of dissolved organic compounds. Each horizontal tube has either one or several small openings that are offset from the openings on the adjacent tube at a small angle, typically 10°. The openings are formed by either a single slit that runs along the length of each tube, or by a series of holes that runs along the length of each tube. Organic-loaded water is pumped through tubing into the reaction chamber. As water moves through the tubing, gas (e.g., air) is drawn in by eductors, creating a gas/water mixture. The gas/water mixture is distributed into the horizontal reaction chamber through a lateral manifold that tangentially injects the gas/water mixture at approximately equidistant points along the length of the reaction chamber. The gas/water mixture enters the largest of the nested horizontal tubes and is forced through the small opening(s) into the next smaller diameter tube. Water travels circumferentially through adjacent tubes in a counter-current movement. The most central concentric tube carries the water out of the reaction chamber into the foam collection chamber. The water left behind is considerably more pure and free of contaminates and exits through tubing in the bottom of the foam collection chamber. The horizontal protein skimmer of the present invention is sectioned into individual components that facilitate transport and on-site assembly.
