Abstract: The present invention provides a particularly advantageous form of alkaline earth metal hydroxystannate and alkaline earth metal stannate exhibiting a BET specific surface area of from 20 to 200 m2/g. A method of producing such particulate material and evidence of its benefits in use such as in at a reduction in a polymer sample at elevated temperature is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermosetting resin composition containing an inorganic filler (A1) containing a nanofiller (a), a thermosetting resin (B), and an elastomer (C); and a thermosetting resin composition containing an inorganic filler (A2), a thermosetting resin (B), and an elastomer (C), wherein the inorganic filler (A2) has at least two peaks of a first peak and a second peak in a particle size distribution measured according to the laser diffraction scattering method, and a peak position of the first peak appears at 0.3 to 0.7 μm, while a peak position of the second peak appears at 0.7 to 1.2 μm.

wherein, the particle size of the polysiloxane-coated particles of second fluororesin ranges from 0.2 μm to 80 μm, and the melting point of the second fluororesin is lower than the melting point of the first fluororesin.-

Abstract: A powdered composition useful for the preparation of a biodegradable material, said composition comprising 40 to 95 wt. % of a gypsum containing material that is environmentally acceptable; 0 to 60 wt. % of particles of at least one environmentally acceptable filler; and 3 to 10 wt. % of an environmentally acceptable binding agent. A pourable, water-containing, uncured and biodegradable composition comprising a mixture of a component A and a component B. The component A comprises: 40 to 95 wt. % of a gypsum containing material that is environmentally acceptable; 0 to 60 wt. % of particles of at least one environmentally acceptable filler; and 3 to 10 wt. % of an environmentally acceptable binding agent. The component B comprises water. The weight ratio component A: component B varies from 100:40 to 100:100. Biodegradable articles, methods and uses for preparing the pourable, water-containing, uncured and biodegradable articles (e.g. funeral urn).

Abstract: A method of forming a titania-coated inorganic particle comprising the steps of (a) stirring a mixture of a titania precursor such as a titanium alkoxide and an inorganic particle such as a hollow glass particles in an organic solvent such as an alcohol for more than 1 h to cause adsorption of the titania precursor on the surface of the inorganic particle; and (b) adding water dropwise to the mixture under stirring to convert the titania precursor to titania which then forms a coating on the inorganic particle. A method for forming a paint formulation, a titania-coated inorganic particle, a paint formulation comprising a titania-coated inorganic particle and use of a titania-coated inorganic particle in a paint formulation is also described.
