Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for preparing metal workpieces for cold forming by first applying a phosphate layer and then applying a lubricant layer which has a major content in organic polymer material. The phosphate layer is formed by an aqueous acidic phosphating solution having a major content in calcium, magnesium or manganese and phosphate. The lubricant layer is formed by contacting the phosphated surface with an aqueous lubricant composition which has a content in organic polymer material based on ionomer and optionally also non-ionomer the organic polymer material used predominantly being monomers, oligomers, co-oligomers, polymers or copolymers based on ionomer, acrylic acid/methacrylic acid, epoxide, ethylene, polyamide, propylene, styrene, urethane, the ester or salt thereof. The invention also relates to the corresponding lubricant composition, to the lubricant layer produced thereof and to its use.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a grease composition capable of effectively preventing a rolling surface of a bearing from having hydrogen brittleness-caused peeling, a grease-enclosed bearing in which the grease composition is enclosed, and a rotation-transmitting apparatus with a built-in one-way clutch in which the grease composition is enclosed at a sliding portion. The grease composition contains a base grease consisting of a base oil and a thickener; and an additive added to the base grease. The grease composition prevents a frictional wear surface of the sliding portion or a newly generated surface consisting of iron or the like exposed owing to wear from being peeled owing to hydrogen brittleness. The additive contains a bismuth-based additive or a magnesium-based additive. The bismuth-based additive consists of at least one of inorganic bismuth and organic bismuth not containing a sulfur component. The magnesium-based additive consists of at least one of inorganic magnesium and organic magnesium. The grease-enclosed bearing encloses the above-described grease composition.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for preparing metal workpieces for cold forming by applying a lubricant layer either to a metal surface or to a metal surface which has been pre-coated with e.g., a conversion coating. The lubricant layer is formed by contacting the surface with an aqueous lubricant composition which has a content in at least two waxes having distinct properties and a content in organic polymer material, the organic polymer material used predominantly being monomers, oligomers, co-oligomers, polymers and copolymers based on ionomer, acrylic acid/methacrylic acid, epoxide, ethylene, propylene, styrene, urethane, the ester or salt thereof. The invention to the corresponding lubricant composition, to the lubricant layer produced thereof and to its use.
Abstract:
The invention provides for a lithium hydroxide composition including lithium hydroxide, a base oil, and a polymer. The invention also provides for a process for preparing a lithium hydroxide composition including contacting a lithium hydroxide component, a base oil, and a polymer. The invention also provides for a process of using a lithium hydroxide composition for preparing a soap concentrate or a grease.
Abstract:
Polymeric salts, lubricant compositions comprising the polymeric salts and processes for producing such polymeric salts. More specifically, low viscosity lubricants for the working surface of an extrusion die during the processing of plastics that require lubricants to render them processable, such as polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride and copolymers thereof. A metal base is reacted with acid functional groups formed during oxidation of a wax, thereby forming a polymeric salt, neutralizing the wax and saponifying saponifiable functional groups.
Abstract:

The invention also provides for a process for preparing a lithium hydroxide composition including contacting a lithium hydroxide component, a base oil, and a fatty acid component. The invention also provides for a process of using a lithium hydroxide composition for preparing a soap concentrate or a grease.
Abstract:
A grease composition, which comprises (A) a perfluoropolyether base oil, (B) a thickener, and (C) barium sulfate and/or antimony oxide, where 0.1-50% by weight of the component (B) and 1-25% by weight of the component (C) are contained, has a distinguished effect on improvements of abrasion resistance, friction characteristics, load durability, high-temperature durability and corrosion resistance without any deterioration of heat resistance by adding at least one of barium sulfate and antimony oxide, each having an average primary particle size of 0.1-20 μm, as component (C).
Abstract:
Method for making base oil, comprising transporting a height of greater than 7.5 meters of granular solid wax particles comprising a highly paraffinic wax with defined boiling points and a powder coating to a distant location, and hydroprocessing the transported wax. Also, a method comprising: a) selecting a Fischer-Tropsch wax having a broad boiling range, b) powder coating the wax, and c) transporting and d) hydroprocessing the wax. Also, a method comprising forming inorganic powder coated granular solid wax particles that withstand heavy loads without clumping or sticking together from highly paraffinic wax, wherein the amount of powder is between 0.1 and 5 wt %, transporting, and hydroprocessing the solid wax particles.

A lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, 1 to 1000 parts per million by weight of titanium in the form of an oil-soluble titanium-containing material, and at least one additional lubricant additive provides beneficial effects on properties such as deposit control, oxidation, and filterability in engine oils.
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is facilitated by applying to the container or conveyor aqueous compositions containing hardness ions. The compatibility of the aqueous compositions with PET bottles is improved when the ratio of hardness as CaCO3 to alkalinity as CaCO3 is greater than about 1 to 1.
