A real-time picture communications system (15) including a picture communications network subsystem (26) provides real-time picture communication services between users (21), devices (22), and/or groups of users, devices, and other groups. Examples of devices include cameras, viewers, keypads, writing tablets, microphones, telephones, and combinations thereof. One or more protocol communications nodes (27) are connected to one or more networks to provide communication between the network and the picture communications network subsystem. A registry database (28) includes user information (86), device information (87) and group information (88). A control subsystem (29) processes requests and executes instructions, such as an attach instruction and instructions that establish real-time communication services responsive to an authenticated request by a user or a device to the extent allowed by the various access rights of any users, devices and groups.

A method of controlling an image forming system, the method including: determining whether or not a connection state enabling communication between an image forming apparatus and a second operation device has been established, in a case where an instruction is issued from a first operation device to the image forming apparatus; and displaying, in a case where it is determined in the determining that the connection state has been established, on a display of the first operation device, a selection screen for selection of whether or not the image forming apparatus is to be allowed to operate according to the instruction.

An image processing apparatus includes a printing unit, a storage unit, and a processing unit. The storage unit stores communication addresses of image processing apparatuses in a group to which the apparatus belongs. In response to a request for registration in the group from a different image processing apparatus, the processing unit causes the storage unit to store a communication address of the different image processing apparatus, and transmits a registration commission for registering the communication address of the different image processing apparatus in the group to the image processing apparatuses in the group using the communication addresses stored in the storage unit.

When a first device and a first attribute are specified, a data processing device registers the first device in association with first attribute and transmits an instruction to perform a process relating to the first attribute to the first device. If the first device possesses the second attribute, the data processing device registers the first device in association with the second attribute. The data processing device displays, on a display unit, a first image representing identification data of the first device when the second attribute is specified and the first device is registered in association with the second attribute. This disclosure details the implementation of apparatuses, methods, and systems for a portable, image-processing transmitter. The transmitter provides a platform capable of managing, manipulating, storing, and transmitting digital media files across a wide array of transmission means and protocols. In one embodiment, the transmitter may be employed by photographers, photojournalists, and/or the like to rapidly process, edit, and send photographs or video to multiple news agencies, newspapers, magazines, television studios, websites, and/or the like while maintaining control over their photographs by allowing them to send reduced quality and watermarked proofs. The transmitter may be configured to allow users to first generate and transmit low-resolution preview images, thereby saving on transmission time and resources, and only send full resolution versions once approvals of the preview versions are received. The transmitter's broad communication capabilities ensure that it is maximally effective in locating and exploiting available communication networks, even from remote locations.

First and third communication devices communicate therebetween using the first communication protocol to transmit connection information. Image processing apparatuses, information processing apparatuses, or both determine whether an image transmission condition for transferring the image data between second and fourth communication devices is satisfied. Second and fourth communication devices use connection information to establish communication therebetween using the second communication protocol in response to the determining that the image transmission condition is satisfied and transmit the image data therebetween using the second communication protocol.

In a case where it is determined that a memory card that has been inserted into a first card slot among the plurality of card slots is the wireless card, the wireless communication function of the wireless card is enabled. In a case where it is determined that a memory card that has been inserted into a card slot other than the first card slot is the wireless card, the wireless communication function of the wireless card is disabled.
