A communication system includes a client device that does not include facsimile transmission functions, and a relay device. The relay device is communicably connected to the client device via a private network while also being communicably connected to an external device via a public network, includes facsimile transceiving functions that transmit and receive facsimiles via a public network line associated with the client device, and in response to facsimile transmission instructions for image information received from the client device via the private network, transmits to the external device a facsimile of the image information with added information on the public network line associated with the private network.

A computer-implemented method is provided that includes creating a virtual device object when an application accepts an instruction for creating the virtual device object by using a driver corresponding to an image processing device by a user; displaying the created virtual device object; extracting the driver selected in the instruction registering so as to register the driver with the virtual device object; and outputting a file by using the driver which the registering has registered with the virtual device object when the user selects the virtual device object by using the file.

A portable terminal apparatus includes: a two-dimensional code obtaining portion that obtains a two-dimensional code indicating address information; an address information judgment portion that analyzes the two-dimensional code and judges whether or not the two-dimensional code includes an IP address; an access portion that accesses an image processing apparatus residing at the IP address upon the two-dimensional code being judged as including the IP address; an MIB information obtaining portion that obtains MIB information from the image processing apparatus; and a registration portion that judges on the basis of the MIB information whether or not the image processing apparatus can be operated from the portable terminal apparatus by an application being activated, the application being installed on the portable terminal apparatus, and registers information for use of the image processing apparatus upon the image processing apparatus being judged as being able to be operated from the portable terminal apparatus.

The image forming apparatus generates first display data for a first operation screen that includes a key image for receiving an instruction to execute an external terminal program, on the basis of program information regarding the types of external terminal programs that are programs installed in the external terminal, and transmits the first display data to the external terminal. The external terminal displays the first operation screen on a display unit of the external terminal on the basis of the first display data.

An apparatus for displaying digital image files on a standard display device such as a television set is provided in the form of a set-top box. The box includes an integrated circuit and memory buffer for computing an image from a file, a second memory buffer for storing computed images, and a video output for delivering the images to the display device. Preferably, the set-top box also includes an infrared receiver for remote operation. The set-top box receives the image files from standard storage media such as floppy disks.

This invention provides for a camera system having a plurality of hand held camera devices connected together in series. Each camera device includes an image input configured to receive image data from a camera device preceding in the series of devices, and an instruction reader configured to read instructions from a card inserted into the camera device, said card having encoded thereon various instructions for the manipulation of the image data. Each camera device also includes a processor unit arranged in communication with the input and the instruction reader, the processor unit configured to perform image manipulation on the image data according to the instructions read from the card. Also included is an image output configured to transmit manipulated image data from the processor to a camera device following in the series of devices, the camera system operatively facilitating a cascade of imaging effects.

A communication apparatus (image forming apparatus) according to an aspect of the present invention is capable of communication with an external apparatus via short-range wireless communication (NFC) and while in a powered-on state (first state), registers a piece of data being held by the communication apparatus as NFC transmission data that is to be transmitted by the communication apparatus in a powered-off state (second state). Furthermore, when shifting from the powered-on state to the powered-off state, the communication apparatus sets the registered NFC transmission data in an NFC controller as data that is to be transmitted to an external apparatus such as a mobile terminal via NFC communication.
