Abstract:
Synchronization techniques with state transformation are described. The synchronization techniques may include storing a data object and metadata associated with the data object at a computing device. The data object can be stored in a first representative state at the computing device. The techniques may further involve receiving user input to synchronize the data object into a second representative state at a remote computing device, automatically transforming the data object from the first representative state into the second representative state, and synchronizing the data object to a remote data object stored at the remote computing device. The remote data object can be stored in the second representative state at the remote computing device.
Abstract:
A system in an embodiment includes an image forming apparatus, an erasing apparatus, a first apparatus, and a display unit. The image forming apparatus forms an image on a sheet using a decolorable color material. The erasing apparatus decolorizes an image. The first apparatus computes, from a reduction in the number of sheets achieved by a setting for image formation in the image forming apparatus, the amount of a reduction in environmental burdens achieved by use of the image forming apparatus and computes, from the number of sheets erased by the erasing apparatus, the amount of a reduction in environmental burdens achieved by use of the erasing apparatus. The display unit simultaneously displays the amount of the reduction in environmental burdens achieved by the image forming apparatus and the amount of the reduction in environmental burdens achieved by the erasing apparatus.
Abstract:
A method for inferring user activity statistics includes receiving job logs of a device infrastructure. Each job log including job information for a job performed for one of a set of users by one of a plurality of shared devices. A job descriptor is generated for each job based on the job log. The job is assigned to one of a set of defined job types based on the job descriptor. An activity matrix is composed where activity of each user for each of a plurality of time periods is represented as a fixed-length vector representing at least some of the job types. Each index of the vector is derived from a count of one job type for the user in that time period. The activity matrix is decomposed into first and second factor matrices to minimize an overall reconstruction error. User activity statistics are output based on the decomposition.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for tracing the source of a printed document. A method may include receiving a print job for printing a page having page content, generating a log of the print job, encoding the log using a mule image to produce a data-bearing halftone image, merging the data-bearing halftone image with the page content, and printing the merged data-bearing halftone image and page content to produce a printed document.
Abstract:
A system comprises an image forming apparatus and a server, the image forming apparatus including: a receiving unit which receives the series of data from the server; a transfer unit which transfers a plurality of print jobs included in the series of data to a printing unit; and an accepting unit which accepts a cancel instruction for the series of data from a user, wherein when the receiving unit accepts the cancel instruction while receiving the series of data, the receiving unit discards the plurality of print jobs until termination data is received, and when the transfer unit accepts the cancel instruction while transferring the series of data, the transfer unit cancels transfer of the plurality of print jobs to the printing unit, and instructs the printing unit to cancel printing of a transferred print job.
Abstract:
A communication system includes a client device that does not include facsimile transmission functions, and a relay device. The relay device is communicably connected to the client device via a private network while also being communicably connected to an external device via a public network, includes facsimile transceiving functions that transmit and receive facsimiles via a public network line associated with the client device, and in response to facsimile transmission instructions for image information received from the client device via the private network, transmits to the external device a facsimile of the image information with added information on the public network line associated with the private network.
Abstract:
A non-transitory computer readable recording medium stores a print job generating program that causes a computer to perform as a setting unit, and a print job generating unit that generates a print job, based on a content of setting that is set using the setting unit by a user. In a print system environment that executes a process based on the print job, a first setting for not performing a first process, regardless of a print setting included in the print job, has been made in the print system environment for a first function of a first post-processing device included in an image forming device. The setting unit allows the user to set, alternatively to the first process, a second process performed by a second function of a second post-processing device included in the print system environment.
Abstract:
An information transmitting apparatus includes a recipient information memory storing multiple pieces of recipient information and recipient identification information that is associated with each of the multiple pieces of recipient information and is used for identifying each piece of recipient information; a user information memory storing user selection identification information, which is the recipient identification information selected by a user from the recipient information memory, and storing information indicating a time when the user selection identification information is selected by the user; an information transmitting unit reading out the recipient information corresponding to the user selection identification information from the recipient information memory to transmit information to the recipient identified by the recipient information that is read out; and a notification unit notifying the user of change if the recipient information stored in the recipient information memory is changed after the selection.
Abstract:
A controlling device may determine an output resolution according to one type of file format selected from a plurality of types of file format. The output resolution may be a resolution of image data to be included in a target file of a generation target. The plurality of types of file format may include a first type of file format and a second type of file format. The controlling device may determine a first resolution as the output resolution in a first case where the selected file format is the first type of file format, and determine a second resolution different from the first resolution as the output resolution in a second case where the selected file format is the second type of file format.
