Abstract: A method is disclosed of assembling building blocks into supraparticles. The method includes applying a first solvent on a template of patterned recessed regions to wet surfaces of the recessed regions; applying a second solvent on the template of patterned recessed regions, the building blocks suspended in the second solvent; wherein the first solvent and the second solvent are partially miscible, resulting in negligible interfacial surface tension between the first and second solvents; and wherein droplets of the second solvent diffuse droplets of the first solvent in the recessed regions, thereby assembling the building blocks into the supraparticles in the recessed regions.

Abstract: Provided herein is a first fluid dispersed in a second fluid to form an emulsion of micro-droplets having an average droplet size and having a droplet size distribution around the average droplet size and below a maximum droplet size. The micro-droplets will lose their solvent to transform to micro-spheres exhibiting a particle size distribution around an average particle size and substantially below a maximum allowable particle size. The micro-spheres are subjected to a micro-filter having a relatively narrow pore size distribution around an average pore size, which average pore size is between the average particle size and the maximum particle size. A filtrate of the micro-filter comprises a majority of the micro-spheres that is substantially void of micro-spheres having a particle size exceeding the maximum allowable particle size.

Abstract: A method of forming cured microparticles includes providing a poly(glycerol sebacate) resin in an uncured state. The method also includes forming the composition into a plurality of uncured microparticles and curing the uncured microparticles to form the plurality of cured microparticles. The uncured microparticles are free of a photo-induced crosslinker. A method of forming a scaffold includes providing microparticles including poly(glycerol sebacate) in a three-dimensional arrangement. The method also includes stimulating the microparticles in the three-dimensional arrangement to sinter the microparticles, thereby forming the scaffold having a plurality of pores. A scaffold is formed of a plurality of microparticles including a poly(glycerol sebacate) thermoset resin in a three-dimensional arrangement. The scaffold has a plurality of pores.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process to make nanoparticles highly loaded with water soluble actives, including biologics such as proteins and peptides, which are stabilized by random copolymers. The random copolymers used have all been approved by the FDA for oral formulations. The nanoparticles have a hydrophilic core and a hydrophobic corona and can be further processed through a number of different routes. The process to make these particles is highly scalable and could be used industrially.

Abstract: A microcapsule includes a core/shell structure, in which the shell includes a water-soluble polymer and the core includes an organic peroxide. The water-soluble polymer is preferably at least one water-soluble polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, gelatin, poly(meth)acrylic acid derivatives, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and polyethylene oxide. The polyvinyl alcohol is preferably partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of 80% by mole or more and 99.5% by mole or less and an average degree of polymerization of 1,500 or more and 3,500 or less.
