Abstract:
A process for producing high-density thin type optical disk substrates having good replicability and birefringence sufficient for practical use. In filling the resin into the cavity, the stress on the resin is reduced by controlling the relation of the cavity width and the injection compression force to reduce birefringence. Further, the mirror surface of the mold is maintained at a certain temperature to facilitate the resin flow and a good replicability and reduction of birefringence is achieved by terminating the resin filling and starting the compression process at the time at which the pressure of the resin filling is at a minimum.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, there are provided connection assemblies for burn-in test, wherein the test is carried out by electrically connecting inner terminals of a wiring pattern formed on a base substrate and terminals of a device to be tested to each other. These assemblies are equipped with a contact substrate having points of contact on both the top and bottom surface thereof and force the inner terminals and the terminals to connect electrically through the points of contact, a positioning plate for carrying out positioning of the contact substrate relative to the base substrate and have a positioning hole for locating the device, and a pressure mechanism for pressing the device toward the contact substrate. By use of the assemblies illustrated above, burn-in testing on LSI having a narrow pitch and multiple terminals may be carried out, the assemblies are available at low prime cost with high efficiency and, because of good exchangeability, it is possible to cope with damage to the contact substrate or changes in the types of articles of manufacture to be tested.

A power unit mounting structure in a motor vehicle includes a power unit comprising an engine having a crankshaft, a transmission coupled to the crankshaft of the engine, and a differential interposed between drive axles connected to a pair of laterally spaced front road wheels of the motor vehicle and the transmission. The power unit is mounted in a front portion of the motor vehicle with its center of gravity positioned rearwardly of the drive axles extending from the differential toward front road wheels serving as the drive road wheels. A steering gearbox extends parallel to the drive axles and is disposed forwardly of the drive axles.

A hydrostatically operated continuously variable transmission for use with an engine includes a swash-plate-type axial-piston hydraulic pump and a swash-plate-type axial-piston hydraulic motor which are interconnected by a closed hydraulic circuit. The pump and motor cylinders of the pump and the motor are disposed coaxially with each other and integrally coupled to each other into a cylinder block. An input shaft connected to an engine is coupled centrally to the cylinder block, and a output tubular shaft connected to a load is relatively rotatably disposed on an outer periphery of the cylinder block. The pump swash plate of the pump is supported by a stationary machine frame. The motor swash plate of the motor is supported by the output tubular shaft.
Abstract:
A valve operating mechanism for an internal combustion engine having a valve disposed in an intake port or an exhaust port of a combustion chamber and being openable by a rotatable cam and cam follower in synchronism with the engine crankshaft rotation. The valve is normally urged toward the closed position by a spring means encircling the valve. Various embodiments are disclosed for varying the resilient force urging the valve toward the closed position during different engine operating conditions, such as, increasing the resilient valve closing force during high-speed operation for ensuring proper valve operation and decreasing the resilient valve closing force during low-speed operation for reducing friction in the valve operating mechanism. The valve operating mechanism includes means for switching between actuation by a low-speed cam or a high-speed cam. One form of the spring means includes a mechanism for increasing the spring force on the high-speed cam follower only during high-speed operation. Another form of the spring means includes a valve spring having a non-uniform rate of compression for imposing a higher rate of increase of spring force as the valve is opened a larger amount at high-speed.
Abstract:
A hydrostatically operated continuously variable transmission has a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor which are interconnected by a closed hydraulic circuit. The hydraulic pump comprises a plurality of pump plungers reciprocably disposed radially in a cylinder block, and an eccentric pump ring engaging outer ends of the pump plungers and supported eccentrically with respect to the center of rotation of a cylinder block for imparting reciprocating movement to the pump plungers in response to rotation of the cylinder block. The hydraulic motor comprises a plurality of motor plungers reciprocably disposed radially in the cylinder block, and an eccentric motor ring engaging outer ends of the motor plungers and supported eccentrically with respect to the center of rotation of the cylinder block for imparting reciprocating movement to the motor plungers in response to relative rotation between the cylinder block and an output shaft. At least one of the eccentric rings is supported in a manner for being eccentrically displaced from the center of rotation of the cylinder block by a variable amount of eccentricity.
Abstract:
A valve operating control device for an internal combustion engine having a valve operating mode changing mechanism for switching the opening/closing operation of an intake or exhaust valve between a low-speed operation mode corresponding to a low-speed operation of the engine and a high-speed operation mode corresponding to a high-speed operation of the engine. A control device controls the operation of the valve operation mode changing mechanism according to the rotational speed of the engine for shifting the valve operation mode changing mechanism from the high-speed mode to the low-speed mode where the output torque of the engine is the same in the low- and high-speed operation modes of the valve operation mode changing mechanism and for shifting the valve operation mode changing mechanism from the low-speed operation mode to the high-speed operation mode at a second rotational speed that is higher than the first rotational speed.

A device for judging precious stones such as diamonds with ease, especially enables judgment of quality of cut, clarity or existence of imperfections and color grade of diamonds without requiring expert skill or experience. The device body (1) is provided with a window (3) at its upper part and light source (2) at its lower part. A plate (4) for supporting precious stones such as diamonds, is slidably inserted and carried between the window (3) and the light source (2). A base plate (14) which is slidably secured, is also provided to the device body (1), and a magnifying glass (12) for presenting precious stones in enlargement through the window (3), is fixed to the base plate (14). On the object lens side of the magnifying glass (12) is mounted a disc (17) having a small hole (18). The exterior of the disc (17) is colored in red or silver.
Abstract:
A laminated buss bar comprised of a pair of elongated flat conductors separated by an incorporated dielectric/electrode structure, the dielectric/electrode structure being sandwiched between the flat conductors on the opposite sides thereof, and a method of manufacture thereof. The buss bar is formed by depositing a flat layer of dielectric material on the inwardly facing surface of a first flat conductor and then forming an electrode of conductive material on the deposited layer of dielectric material. The inwardly facing surface of the first flat conductor also serves as one electrode of a capacitor. Subsequently, the formed conductive material electrode electrically and mechanically contacts the inwardly facing surface of a second flat conductor. Accordingly, the formed conductive material electrode, dielectric material, and one of the pair of elongated flat conductors form a capacitor.
Abstract:
A reaction vessel including a generally cylindrical center part and two plates or discs which are secured to and close the ends of the center part. The reactant is fed into the interior of the vessel where the polymerization or other chemical reaction takes place. A heat transfer or heat exchanger system is formed by a smooth liner that is mounted coaxially with and within the interior of the center part. The liner is spaced from the center part and it is secured to the center part by a plurality of support portions. The support portions serve both to brace the liner so that it can withstand the pressure of the reactant, and as partitions which form flow paths for a coolant, between the liner and the center part. Further, the liner includes a plurality of strip portions having a width which is substantially equal to the distance between said support portions, said strip portions extending substantially parallel to each other and to said support portions, and said strip portions extending between the radially inner edges of two support portions.
