    Abstract: A wireless communication system and method. The system includes processing circuitry, and a transceiver coupled to the processing circuitry. The processing circuitry includes logic to generate a wake-up packet addressed to another wireless communication system and including a legacy preamble portion and a wake-up portion, the legacy preamble portion modulated according to a first modulation rate. The wake-up portion is modulated according to a second modulation rate lower than the first modulation rate and includes information to wake-up the other wireless communication system. The transceiver system is to transmit the legacy preamble using a first transmit power level, and to transmit the wake-up portion using a second transmit power level higher than the first transmit power level by a predetermined amount such that an average received power of the wake-up portion is equal to an average received power of the legacy portion at the third-party station.

    Abstract: Logic may coordinate communications of different types of wireless communications devices such as high power and low power wireless communications devices. Logic may coordinate communications by assigning time slots to a low power station (LP-STA) in a management frame such as a beacon transmitted by an access point (AP) associated with the LP-STA. Logic of the high power stations (HP-STAs) may receive the beacon and shepard logic of the HP-STA may defer transmissions by the HP-STA throughout the duration(s) indicated in the beacon from the AP. Logic of the LP-STA may comprise carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance logic to determine when to transmit a communication. Shepard logic of an HP-STA may detect the communication from the LP-STA and defer transmission of communication during a time duration for the communication by the LP-STA.

    Abstract: A wireless communication system, system and method. A wireless communication device comprises a memory, and processing circuitry including logic. The processing circuitry is to decode a wake-up payload, when a main radio associated with the device is in a sleep state, using an operational cyclic prefix length for the packet. The operational cyclic prefix length may be one of a fixed cyclic prefix length, a cyclic prefix length used for a last packet transmission by the main radio, and a selected cyclic prefix length determined by the processing circuitry. The processing circuitry may further cause a wake-up of the main radio based on the wake-up payload to allow the main radio to process a subsequent packet after waking up.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a wireless station and method for communicating in a Wi-Fi network in accordance with coexistence techniques are described. The station (STA) can include memory and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to decode a packet received from a second STA, the packet including an information element (IE) indicating the second STA is one of a hybrid class device or a narrowband (NB) class device. When the IE indicates that the second STA is a hybrid class STA, a hybrid packet is generated for transmission to the second STA. The hybrid packet includes a legacy preamble followed by a narrowband (NB) preamble and a NB payload. When the IE indicates that the second STA is a NB class STA, a NB packet is generated for transmission to the second STA. The NB packet including the NB preamble and the NB payload, and is generated without the legacy preamble.

    Abstract: According to the present disclosure, a communication device configured to power on a main receiver to receive data from a network includes: a low power receiver configured to receive a wake up packet, including a preamble, from the network and oversample the wake up packet; a circuit arrangement including: a correlator configured to correlate the oversampled portion of the preamble; a delay and adder configured to take an output of the correlator, delay the output of the correlator, and add the output of the correlator back onto itself to produce a delay output; a peak detector configured to detect a peak pattern in the delay output; a demodulator configured to calculate a decoding threshold value to produce a demodulated data; and a packet parser configured to check the demodulated data for a data set in order to selectively output a nonzero signal to power on the main receiver.

    Abstract: A client station (STA), when operating in a wireless network, receives data sent by an access point (AP) on a first channel comprising at least one subchannel. During reception of the data on the first channel, the STA monitors channel availability of an additional set of one or more subchannels. In response to a detected availability of at least one newly-available subchannel, the STA sends at least one notification to the AP identifying STA-side availability of the newly-available subchannel(s). The STA subsequently receives data from the AP on the newly-available subchannel(s), which is sent in response to the at least one notification. The AP, when communicating data to the STA, receives the at least one notification from the STA and, in response thereto, initiates data transmission on one or more of the newly-available channel(s).

    Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for secure discovery and identification of devices via a wireless network are generally described herein. In some embodiments a wireless device may transmit an anonymous ephemeral identifier that may be utilized by a second device to determine, by accessing a provider or social network, whether the private identity masked by the ephemeral identifier is known to the user of the second device. In some embodiments a provider may receive user or device registrations; maintain a record of private identifiers, ephemeral identifiers, and known user data for a plurality of users; and access one or more social networks to acquire known user data. The ephemeral identifiers may be periodically updated by the provider. In some embodiments a discovery module in a plurality of devices may automatically establish a communication connection between devices in response to a previously established relationship between users of the respective devices.
