Abstract:
A system for providing power to a power network includes an energy storage device connected to the power network, a sensor connected with the energy storage device for measuring a state of the energy storage device during a rest period, which corresponds to a time span during which a current through the energy storage device is reduced to a level that enables an estimation of a state of the energy storage device. The system further includes a controller connected to the sensor for measuring a state of the energy storage device. The controller selectively establishes rest periods for the energy storage device. The rest periods are established by optimizing between minimization of disruption to normal operation and a need to update a measurement of the state of the energy storage device.
Abstract:
Regulating loop for a digital regulator of an excitation rotating electric machine is suitable for operation as a generator delivering an output voltage tailored by an excitation current. The digital regulator comprises means of control of the excitation current and the regulating loop comprises, at input, a means of measurement by sampling the output voltage generating a measurement signal (Um), means of error calculation generating an error signal (e) equal to a difference between the measurement signal (Um) and a setpoint (U0), means of processing of the error signal (e) generating a regulating signal (Ysat) comprising in parallel a first amplifier, an integrator and an anti-saturation system, and comprising, at output, means of generation of a control signal (PWM) controlling the means of control as a function of the regulating signal (Ysat). In accordance with the invention, the anti-saturation system is a conditional detection system.
Abstract:
An engine starting device includes a high-voltage power storage unit, a DC/DC converter electrically connected to the high-voltage power storage unit, a first switch electrically connected to the DC/DC converter, a second switch electrically connected to the first switch at a node, a low-voltage power storage unit electrically connected to the second switch, a starter configured to start up the engine, and a controller. The controller is configured to, for starting up the starter, control the DC/DC converter to allow the DC/DC converter to output electric power of the high-voltage power storage unit to the starter and to start rotating the starter at a certain time point by turning on the first switch while turning off the second switch. The controller is configured to, when a predetermined duration elapses from the certain time point or a rotation speed of the starter reaches a predetermined rotation speed, control the second switch to supply electric power of the low-voltage power storage unit to the starter together with the electric power of the high-voltage power storage unit by turning on the second switch. The controller is configured to turn off the first switch and the second switch when the engine completely starts up. Even if a small-sized DC/DC converter is employed, the engine starting device can start up the engine by driving the starter.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes an engine, a first motor generator that is configured to generate electric power using the power of the engine, an electric storage device that is configured to store the electric power that is generated by the first motor generator, a connection part through which the electric power that has been stored in the electric storage device is supplied to the outside of the vehicle; and an ECU that is configured to start the engine when the SOC of the electric storage device reaches a predetermined starting threshold value. The ECU sets a starting threshold value ON2 that is used when the vehicle is in an undrivable condition and electric power is being supplied to the outside of the vehicle through the connection part to a value smaller than a starting threshold value ON1 that is used when the vehicle is in a drivable condition.
Abstract:
A method of powering an electrical accessory of a motor vehicle including an electric battery to which the accessory is connected, the accessory and the battery also being connected electrically to an external electricity generator, wherein the following steps are performed in alternation: a) causing the accessory to be powered by the battery of the vehicle; and b) causing the accessory and the battery to be powered by the external electricity generator. A motor vehicle includes an electrical accessory connected to an electric battery of the vehicle, wherein powering of the accessory is controlled by the above method when the battery is charged and connected to an external generator.
Abstract:
A housekeeping circuit configured to facilitate powering multiple loads is contemplated. The housekeeping circuit may include a transformer to regulate voltage output for using in powering the loads. A trickle circuit may be included to facilitate setting a minimum loading on the transformer. The minimum loading may be beneficial in insuring proper regulation of the transformer.

Abstract:
A novel electromagnetic actuator designed to operate at system resonance, used in the construction of a unique vehicle system, is presented herein. An exemplary embodiment of the vehicle system is based on an electromagnetic actuator coupled to a plurality of actuating members of a micro aerial vehicle. Attributes of this type of actuation offer several enhancements over traditional approaches. The unique use of an electromagnetic actuator lends itself to a near unlimited number of coil cross-sectional designs that can be optimized to meet performance requirements while maintaining minimal costs of fabrication.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a display and a controller that operates the display. A first icon representing a reference energy consumption value based on a predetermined target energy consumption rate is displayed. A second icon representing a present energy consumption value is displayed. The icons are positioned relative to one another based on a difference between the reference energy consumption value and the present energy consumption value. A numerical scale may be displayed having values associated with the first and second icons. A vehicle having a hybrid powertrain including a traction battery may display an effective electric distance traveled that is based on a ratio of power supplied by the traction battery to total power supplied by the powertrain.
