Abstract:
A functional mixture is provided that comprises at least one multi-functional Michael acceptor, at least one multi-functional Michael donor, and at least one weakly basic catalyst.
Abstract:
Adhesives comprising up to about 40 wt % of an ionomer can be applied at low temperatures and exhibit good bond strength. The adhesives are particularly useful as elastic attachment adhesives.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the thermoplastic hydrophilic adhesive compositions having an increased adhesion capability and stability on moist or wet surfaces. The adhesive compositions comprise a thermoplastic hydrophilic homogeneous polymeric matrix having selected liquid absorption capacity, liquid absorption rate, and rheology. The adhesive compositions of the present invention are particularly suitable as topical adhesives for skin adhesion of articles such as disposable waste management articles, disposable absorbent articles, and personal care articles.
Abstract:
Described are adhesive compositions containing a mixture of a pressure sensitive adhesive, a high Tg polymer, and a crosslinker to form a compatibilized blend that is optically clear. Methods of using the adhesive compositions, and multilayer assemblies such as optical elements prepared using the adhesives, are also provided.
Abstract:
A moisture-curing hot-melt-adhesive composition in granulate, tablet or powder form can be produced by a.) fusing the reactive hot-melt-adhesive composition and heating the melt, subject to exclusion of moisture, b.) extruding this melt through one or more dies onto a cooled surface, subject to exclusion of moisture, c.) cooling the granulate, subject to exclusion of moisture, whereby the composition solidifies, d.) removing the cooled hot-melt-adhesive granulate, e.) filling the granulate into moisture-tight packages, subject to exclusion of moisture. These reactive hot-melt adhesives are pourable and free-flowing and therefore can be used with all conventional application machines for hot-melt adhesives.
Abstract:
A hot-melt adhesive composition comprises a blend of at least one acidic polymer and at least one basic polymer. At least one of the polymers is a hot-melt adhesive. Thermally reversible crosslinks are formed between each of the two polymers. These crosslinks impart cohesive strength to the applied adhesive, without sacrificing ease of processing.
Abstract:
A primer composition and method for improving adhesion of polymeric material to metal ion containing substrate is provided. The primer consists of a solution of a polymer whose chain contains polar groups, such as carboxy, hydroxy, groups and the like, and non-polar monoethylenically unsaturated terminal groups. The primer is applied to the surface to be treated, the solvent evaporated and the polymeric material applied and cured in the usual way. The bond tensile strength of samples employing the primer composition is substantially increased as compared to the bond tensile strength of samples not employing the primer composition of this invention.
