Abstract: A composition and method useful in promoting healing of a bleeding wound site. The composition preferably includes a substantially anhydrous acid form of a cation exchange resin, which when applied over blood, provides an antimicrobial against planktonic microorganisms and biofilms in the wound. The resin is also capable, when applied in sufficient quantities, of providing a continuing and persistent antimicrobial against planktonic microorganisms and biofilms through dehydration and ion exchange with cations present in the blood and other body fluids. When the resin has a concentration of at least 26 mg/ml, it provides a >3 log reduction in biological activity of MRSA, MRSE and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract: An ion exchange chromatographic packing material is described that includes support resin particles and a copolymer grafted to the support resin particles. The copolymer includes polymerized functional monomers such as a first ion exchange group monomer and a second ion exchange group monomer. At a first pH, the first ion exchange group monomer is configured to have a first charge at a first pH, and the second ion exchange group monomer is configured to have a net neutral charge. At a second pH, the first ion exchange group monomer is configured to have the first charge at a second pH, and the second ion exchange group monomer is configured to have a second charge at the second pH where the first charge and second charge both have a same polarity.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating a residual stream from bisphenol manufacture, wherein the residual stream comprises unreacted phenols, bisphenol isomers, trisphenols, organic sulfides and water. The method comprises contacting at least a portion of the residual stream or a reaction product thereof with an acidic catalyst under conditions sufficient to allow acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of organic sulfides in the residual stream to the corresponding thiols and produce an effluent stream, and then distilling at least a portion of the effluent stream to recover distillate products comprising phenols and thiols and produce a bottoms product comprising bisphenol isomers and trisphenols, and having a lower content of organic sulfides than the residual stream.

Abstract: Organic sulfur compounds which are generally present in the crude oil undergoes various transformations while processing the crude oil in the secondary processing units such as fluid catalytic cracker, hydrocracker, delayed coker, visbreaker, etc. The sulfur present in the feed which enters into these secondary processing units are distributed into various products coming out of the units. Sulfur compounds which are present in the various product fractions are removed to meet the desired specifications before routing to the final product pool. Conventionally, sulfur present in the LPG has been removed by amine treatment followed by caustic and water wash. The present invention relates to a process for removal of sulfur and other impurities from Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) comprising olefins through reactive desulfurization route. The present invention is an eco-friendly process as it minimizes or eliminates the use of caustic which is conventionally used to remove the sulfur from LPG.
