Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to heatable glass substrates that may be used in connection with lighting applications, and/or methods of making the same. In certain example embodiments, a glass substrate supports an antireflective (AR) coating on a first major surface thereof, and a conductive coating on a second, opposite major surface thereof. Bus bars connect the conductive coating to a power source in certain example embodiments. The substrate may be heat treated (e.g., heat strengthened and/or thermally tempered), with one or both coatings thereon. The heatable glass substrate thus may help provide a chemical and/or environmental barrier for the luminaire or lighting system disposed behind it. In addition, or in the alternative, the heatable glass substrate may help reduce the amount of moisture (e.g., snow, rain, ice, fog, etc.) that otherwise could accumulate on the luminaire or lighting system.

Abstract: A method for forming a semiconductor device is disclosed in which a metal oxide gate dielectric layer is formed over a substrate. A gate electrode is then formed over the metal oxide layer thereby exposing a portion of the metal oxide layer. The exposed portion of the metal oxide gate dielectric layer is then chemically reduced to a metal or a metal hydride. The metal or metal hydride is then removed with a conventional wet etch or wet/dry etch combination. The metal oxide layer may include a metal element such as zirconium, tantalum, hafnium, titanium, or lanthanum and may further include an additional element such as silicon or nitrogen. Reducing the metal oxide layer may includes annealing the metal oxide gate dielectric layer in an ambient with an oxygen partial pressure that is less than a critical limit for oxygen desorption at a given temperature. In another embodiment, reducing the metal oxide gate dielectric layer may include annealing the metal oxide layer while supplying a hydrogen-containing precursor such as silane, ammonia, germane, hydrogen, and hydrazine to the metal oxide gate dielectric layer. The gate electrode may comprise a gate electrode stack that includes a titanium nitride layer over the metal oxide gate dielectric layer and a silicon-containing capping layer over the titanium nitride layer.

Abstract: Communications data such as traffic levels in a communications network is analysed using techniques adapted from the study of chaos. Future values of a series of communications data are predicted and an attractor structure is determined from the communications data. This enables the communications processes to be monitored, controlled and analysed. Action can be taken to modify the communications process using the results from the prediction and attractor structure to reduce costs and improve performance and efficiency. These methods may also be used for product data from manufacturing processes. An algorithm bank is compiled containing prediction algorithms suitable for different types of data series, including those exhibiting deterministic behaviour and those exhibiting stochastic behaviour. Recent past values of a data series are taken and assessed or audited in order to determine which of the algorithms in the bank would provide the optimal prediction. The selected algorithm is then used to predict future values of the data series. The assessment or auditing process is carried out in real time and a prediction algorithm selected using a “smart switch” such that different algorithms are used for different stages in a given series as required. This enables good prediction of data series which change in nature over time to be obtained.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method to dynamically identify, assemble, or otherwise simulate the availability of resources for an orchestrated service or application, thereby allowing for strategic changes in scheduling, purchasing, hiring, and the like to ensure that the resources needed to deliver the desired outcome during a particular time period are present. In particular, the system includes an orchestration module storing a plurality of resource parameters, correlating a predetermined criterion for one or more resources with an event, and simulating the event, where the simulation includes comparing the stored plurality of parameters with the predetermined criterion. The system further determines whether the stored plurality of parameters satisfy the predetermined criterion, and may store the determination for subsequent evaluation.
