Abstract:
A dry aerosol antiperspirant composition containing an astringent powder, an aerosol propellant, and a di(C.sub.8-10 alkanoate) of a C.sub.2-6 alkylene diol such as propylene dipelargonate, and method of using same.
Abstract:
An elastic detergent bar of improved form-retaining ability during elevated temperature storage and of improved foaming power after use comprises an organic detergent which is an ammonium or lower alkanolammonium anionic organic detergent salt or a mixture of such anionic detergent with amphoteric synthetic organic detergent, gelatin and a lower di- or polyhydric alcohol. The bars made, which are essentially free of water, are of improved thermal stability, allowing them to be stored at higher temperatures than comparable bars, without distortion, and do not readily form inhibiting gel structures or coatings after use, which could otherwise diminish foaming power. Also within the invention is a method of making the described detergent bars.
Abstract:
An improved antiperspirant composition is prepared by spray drying together a mixture of aluminum chloride, aluminum chlorhydrate, and urea. The impalpable powder which is formed is incorporated into an aerosol antiperspirant formulation.
Abstract:
A dry aerosol antiperspirant spray composition based on particulate aluminum chlorhydrate as the active antiperspirant, with a propellant fluid to maintain pressure in a container and to aid in discharging the antiperspirant composition from it through a dispensing valve, includes a water soluble poly-lower alkoxylated cetyl alcohol, such as cetyl propoxylate of 5 to 15 propoxy groups per mole, to act as a vehicle for the aluminum chlorhydrate and to diminish any irritation of the skin and staining of clothing resulting from contact with the aluminum chlorhydrate or a reaction product thereof, perspiration and oily materials in the composition or on the skin.
Abstract:
An improved germicidal hard surface cleaning composition containing a quaternary ammonium germicide, detergent, builder salts and a binary solvent system comprising a saturated terpene hydrocarbon and a non-aqueous polar solvent is described. The binary system provides improved cleaning action for removal of greasy soil from porous and non-porous hard surfaces and does not interfere with the germicidal activity of the quaternary ammonium salt.
Abstract:
A packaged self-heating cosmetic, such as a shaving cream, hand lotion, depilatory, facial, or a shampoo, including separate exothermically reactive reductant material, such as 2-thio-4-oxypyrimidine or thiohydantoin or derivatives thereof, and an oxidant, which reacts with the reductant, generating heat. Means are provided for dispensing the packaged reductant and oxidant from separate zones and bringing them into contact with each other so that they react and heat a pressurized shaving cream or other cosmetic product whose constituents the exothermic reaction mixture contacts. The reducing agent employed is preferably 2-thio-4-oxypyrimidine or its tautomer, 2-mercapto-4-hydroxypyrimidine, or alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, and the oxidizing agent is preferably aqueous hydrogen peroxide.
Abstract:
A marbleized appearance is imparted to the column of paste or like material extruded from a flexible walled container by injecting material of a different color into a column of a predominantly base color passing through a container outlet lined with irregular projections.
Abstract:
A mixing container comprising first and second cylindrical containers telescopically arranged. One form of the invention includes an upwardly extending channel in the side walls of the upper container together with an upper opening therein for permitting mixing of ingredients. Another form of the invention conceives of a rupturable membrane closing an opening in the bottom wall of the upper container. The upper container is provided with a ventable top closure.
Abstract:
Apparatus for dispensing a fluent composition comprising a casing having a top opening with a stationary or rotatable arcuately surfaced web backing member projecting through the opening and a carrier web bearing the composition passes out of the casing through the opening at one side of the member to closely overlie the member and present a firmly backed convex applicator area outside said casing and then passes back into said casing along the other side of said member. In the preferred embodiments the used areas of the web are rewound within the casing, which may be disposable.
Abstract:
An all nonionic liquid shampoo which includes an amine oxide, a polyoxyethylene hexitan mono-higher fatty acid ester, and at least one of a higher alkoxy polyoxyethylene ethanol, an alkyl glycoside and a mixture of glycoside, a higher fatty acid lower alkanolamide and polyacrylamide. Optionally, the mixture of higher fatty acid lower alkanolamide and polyacrylamide may be present in the liquid shampoo containing amine oxide, polyoxyethylene hexitan mono-higher fatty acid ester and the higher alkoxy polyoxyethylene ethanol and/or alkyl glycoside. Another optional constituent is a polyethylene glycol higher fatty acid ester. The shampoos are essentially free of ions and are desirably completely free of ionic materials with the pH essentially neutral.
