Abstract: An eddy current non-destructive evaluation system for an electrode film material includes: at least one control module configured to generate a transmission signal; and a first pair of coils. The first pair of coils includes: a first coil disposed adjacent the electrode film material and configured to operate in a transmit mode, and, based on the transmission signal, to generate an electromagnetic field that passes through the electrode film material; and a second coil disposed adjacent and on an opposite side of the electrode film material as the first coil and configured to operate in a receive mode. The second coil is configured to generate a electromagnetic field voltage based on the electromagnetic field. The at least one control module is configured, based on the electromagnetic field voltage, to at least one of determine a thickness of the electrode film material and detect a defect of the electrode film material.

Abstract: Catalysts and methods for catalytic hydrogenolysis of a polymer. The method comprises a) activating a catalyst with a hydrogen source to provide an activated catalyst, wherein the catalyst comprises: i) a MXene support of Formula I: Mn+1XnTx (I); wherein each M is independently an early transition metal; X is carbon or nitrogen; Tx is a surface functional group wherein x is 0-10; and n is 1, 2, 3, or 4; and ii) a supported metal, wherein loading of the supported metal on the MXene support is less than 5% w/w based on the weight of the catalyst; and b) contacting a mixture of the activated catalyst, hydrogen gas, and a polymer at a temperature of at least about 200° C. for a period of time that is sufficient for catalytic hydrogenolysis of the polymer; thereby converting the polymer to a fuel.

Abstract: An artificial and/or simulated environment is used to raise a domestic or commercially raised animal to promote a positive health feedback and to minimize stress on the animal. The simulated environment is used to create the façade of a free range or cage free environment, while also minimizing the exposure to inclement weather, potential predators, and other unknown or stress-inducing situations. The results include animals that have higher resistance to diseases and have a lower stress. The artificial environment can be created by projecting or otherwise showing images and/or videos depicting simulation of environments, climate, and/or other unknown situations to normalize the animals to the same.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate to additive manufacturing providing compositional control of a material build in three-dimensions. Composition of a material can be controlled in a plane in a spatial manner by directly irradiating the material with an energy beam using a combination of energy scan techniques to volatilize elements of the material away from the material. Such processing can include a change between two distinct scan strategies to produce a spatial variation in composition of the material. Additional systems and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: The present application relates to an iron impregnated biochar and its use as a fertilizer. The iron impregnated biochar of the present application has a ratio of iron (III) to iron (II) ranging from 5:1 to 10:1. The biochar may be produced by a method including treating the biomass with an iron (II) ion solution, pyrolyzing the iron (II)-treated biomass in an oxidative environment and recovering the biochar product from the pyrolyzed iron (II)-treated biomass.
