Abstract:
A plasma-generating apparatus has a plasma discharge chamber having a plasma-generation region. Microwave energy is applied, while introducing plasma-forming gas, and a magnetic field is applied to the plasma-generation region by an electromagnetic coil extending around the chamber. To enhance the field in the plasma-generation region while reducing it outside said region, and a permanent magnet arrangement is at least partly located radially within the coil so as to provide a unidirectional magnetic field which extends through the whole of the plasma-generation region as seen in radial cross-section and is oriented in the axial direction of the coil.
Abstract:
Materials such as cement clinker are crushed by utilizing a crushing apparatus including a vertical roller mill provided with a rotatable table and a plurality of rollers and a distributing device for distributing materials preliminarily crushed by the vertical roller mill. The materials to be crushed is fed into the vertical roller mill, the materials are crushed between the table and the rollers by a pressing force applied to the rollers and substantially the whole amount of the crushed materials is then taken out from the vertical roller mill and conveyed to the distributing device. The crushed materials once conveyed to the distributing device is returned partially as they are to the vertical roller mill and again crushed together with the materials newly fed into the vertical roller mill. The materials are returned to the vertical roller mill by about 20% or more in weight ratio with respect to the newly fed materials when cement clinker is utilized as the materials to be crushed. The returning amount of the crushed materials are controlled in accordance with a power consumption of the rotatable table of the vertical roller mill, and the pressing force of the rollers is controlled in accordance with a power consumption of the rotatable table of the vertical roller mill. The crushed materials are fed to a tube mill installed downstream the vertical roller mill for carrying out a secondary crushing operation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for preheating a granular material having a suspension preheater including a plurality of stages of cyclones arranged above a calcination furnace such that the granular material is preheated by waste gas from the calcination furnace as the granular material passes through the suspension preheater. The apparatus has a precalciner of fluidized-bed type or spouted-bed type connected, in place of a duct used in conventional apparatus, between a collecting cyclone directly connected to be calcination furnace and a first cyclone constituting the most downstream stage.
Abstract:
Novel substituted aryloxyureas, processes for their production, and herbicides comprising them as active ingredients are provided. The substituted aryloxyureas exhibit an excellent herbicidal efficacy against weeds when applied, for example, to the weeds in a wide range of period from a preemergence stage to a growth stage. The substituted aryloxyureas of the invention have the excellent advantage of maintaining high safety on crops or crop plants in spite of their herbicidal efficacy.
Abstract:
A roller mill according to this invention includes a base and a table supported on the base, the table being adapted to be rotated on a generally vertical axis. The table has an annular groove formed in its top surface, the groove having a semicircular cross section. At least one roller is supported by the base above the table, each roller being rotatable on an axis which intersects with the vertical axis of the table. Each roller has an arcuate peripheral portion which forms part of a circle of curvature in cross section. The roller and the table rotate on their respective axes, and they are adapted to compress and mill material in the groove betweem them, a clearance which receives the material being formed between the peripheral portion of the roller and the groove. The roller has a wider axial dimension on the side which is inward radially of the table from a radial plane of the roller, this plane passing through the center of the circle of the peripheral part of the roller, than the axial dimension on the outward side of the table.
