Abstract:
The present invention relates to β-hydroxy and amino substituted carboxylic acids, which act as matrix metalloprotease inhibitors, particularly diastereomerically pure β-hydroxy carboxylic acids, corresponding processes for the synthesis of and pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds of the present invention. Compounds of the present invention are useful in the treatment of various inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic diseases, such as methods of treating asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, COPD, rhinitis, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, pulmonary fibrosis, wound healing disorders, pulmonary inflammation, acute respiratory distress syndrome, periodontitis, multiple sclerosis, gingivitis, atherosclerosis, neointimal proliferation, which leads to restenosis and ischemic heart failure, stroke, renal diseases, tumor metastasis, and other inflammatory disorders characterized by the over-expression and over-activation of a matrix metalloproteinase using the compounds.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a formulation comprising phagostimulants or kairomones, stabilizer, emulsifying, thickening and temperature stabilizing agents to control Tephritid fruit fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae) by attracting both male and female of all stages thereby said formulation finds a prominent place in integrated pest management, control and eradication programs of tephritid fruit flies. The process of preparation of the formulation is also disclosed in the present invention.
Abstract:
Particles comprising a core and a shell at least partially surrounding the core, wherein the core comprises a transition metal dichalcogenide and the shell comprises a transition metal oxide are disclosed. The particles can possess enhanced absorption of light in the visible and UVB/UVA spectrum, without inhibiting their inherent oxidative properties significantly. The particles inserted into a SODIS platform can possess equal or greater photocatalytic properties compared to the current TiO2 SODIS method.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and articles of manufacture are disclosed for building and executing analytics solutions. Such a solution may provide a comprehensive analytics solution (e.g., a risk assessment, fraud detection solution, dynamic operational risk evaluations, regulatory compliance assessments, etc.). The analytics solution may perform an analytics task using operational data distributed across a variety of independently created and governed data repositories in different departments of an organization. A framework is disclosed which allows a user (e.g., a risk analyst) to compose analytical tools that can access data from a variety of sources (both internal and external to an enterprise) and perform a variety of analytic functions.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a system for detecting the presence of a contaminant on a surface includes an infrared light source configured to shine infrared light on the surface, an infrared light detector configured to detect infrared light reflected from the surface, and a computing device configured to receive an infrared reflectance signal from the infrared light detector and detect the presence of the contaminant from a feature in the reflectance signal.
Abstract:
The subject invention pertains to color changeable, film materials comprising a metal substrate layer; a conducting polymer or conducting polymer composite layer; and an electrolyte layer. The conducting polymer or conducting polymer composite layer of the film material is capable of exhibiting changes in one or more optical properties when the film material is in contact with a metal. The subject invention also pertains to methods of preparing conducting polymer films capable of exhibiting changes in optical properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods for securing a distributor plate to a backing plate of a chromatography column without the need for releasable fixing means as screws or bolts. The invention also relates to chromatographic columns utilizing such methods. The method employs a negative pressure or vacuum that is generated internally within the column to affix the distributor to the backing plate.
Abstract:
A surgical fastener applying apparatus for applying fasteners to body tissue. The apparatus includes a cartridge receiving half-section defining an elongated channel member, an anvil half-section, and a clamping lever. The cartridge receiving half-section releasably receives a cartridge and a firing assembly. The clamping lever includes a protrusion in a sidewall which is receivable in a bifurcated depression formed in a sidewall of the cartridge receiving half-section to releasably retain the clamping lever in a non-clamped position and in a clamped position. The apparatus includes a disposable firing assembly and SULU.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method for biopile-based bioremediation of hydrocarbon waste with high aromatic content. The method comprises of isolating specific microorganisms and preparing microbial blend, preparing biopile, adding the microbial blend into the biopile, providing nutrient, aeration and watering of biopile.
