Abstract:
Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises a cover for covering at least a portion of a patient's body and a compliant support adapted to underlie and generally conform to the shape of the portion of the patient's body to define a well adjacent to the patient's body portion for accumulating heat transfer liquid. The cover and compliant support cooperatively define an enclosure for receiving the portion of the patient's body and are constructed to conduct a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body received in the enclosure to promote heat transfer between the patient's body and the heat transfer liquid.
Abstract:
Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises an inflatable mattress defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein. The inflatable mattress is constructed to conduct a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body. The inflatable mattress includes a first zone inflatable to a first pressure and a second zone inflatable to a second pressure greater than the first air pressure. The inflatable mattress in an inflated condition defines a well for receiving the portion of the patient therein. A head positioner positions the patient's head so that the patient's breathing passageway remains out of contact with the heat transfer fluid. A method of adjusting the body temperature of a patient comprises filling the first and second zones, positioning the portion of the patient's body on the mattress, and directing the heat transfer liquid to contact the patient's body.
Abstract:
The method for reducing vendor bid amounts includes providing a supplier with an invitation to make a bid for supplying a digital print job. The print job is characterized by a demand for a first number of units by a select date. The method further includes determining if a demand condition can be met. The determination includes using historical data to calculate a first commitment quantity for current jobs being provided by the supplier. The first commitment quantity is then used to calculate a second commitment quantity. The second commitment quantity provides an estimate for the number of the units and a date. The second commitment quantity is displayed to the supplier. The method provides the supplier with an option to bid for producing the estimated number of units by the estimated date.
Abstract:
Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises an enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein. The enclosure is constructed for transferring a heat transfer liquid into direct contact with the portion of the patient's body received in the enclosure to promote heat transfer between the patient's body and the heat transfer liquid. A drain for draining the heat transfer liquid from the interior space of the enclosure is at least partially disposed beneath the enclosure. A hold-open inhibits occlusion of the drain. A weir in fluid communication with the drain maintains the heat transfer liquid at a predetermined height in the enclosure. A control system is preprogrammed with a target temperature for the body temperature of the patient.

Abstract:
Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient comprises an enclosure defining an interior space for receiving at least a portion of a patient's body therein. The enclosure has at least one gusset that is resiliently deformable for accommodating patients of various sizes. A supply conduit fluidly connects an inlet of the enclosure to a reservoir, and a return conduit fluidly connects an outlet of the enclosure to the reservoir. A first coupler joins the supply conduit and the return conduit to the reservoir and a second coupler joins the supply conduit and the return conduit to the enclosure. The reservoir generally comprises a bag and at least a portion of the supply conduit is integral with the bag.

Abstract:
Apparatus for altering the body temperature of a patient and administering decompression to a patient's torso includes an upper member for overlying the patient's torso. The upper member has at least one inlet for directing heat transfer liquid into direct liquid contact with the patient's torso to promote heat transfer between the patient's torso and the heat transfer liquid. A decompression device is adapted for securement to the upper member for use in at least decompressing the patient's torso with the upper member interposed between the decompression device and the patient's torso. The upper member is configured to facilitate decompression of the patient's torso upon operation of the decompression device to apply a decompressive pressure to the upper member.
Abstract:
A print engine (10) having a maximum physical sheet capacity (MAX_C), and being operable at an operational sheet capacity (OP_C) equal to or less than the maximum physical sheet capacity, includes a marking device (12) which applies marks to sheets of media supplied thereto and outputs the same. A feeding device (14) supplies the sheets to the marking device (12), and a finishing device (16) receives the sheets from the marking device (12). Also included is a user interface (18). The user interface (18) has an indicator (100) which communicates to an operator of the print engine (10): the maximum physical sheet capacity of the print engine (10); the operational sheet capacity at which the print engine (10) is currently operating; and, a measurement of actual sheets which are at least one of contained in or received in a support device of the print engine (10), wherein the support device is the feeding device (14) or the finishing device (16).
