Abstract:
The invention provides novel compounds of formula I having the general formula: wherein R1, R2, R3, X and Y are as described herein. Accordingly, the compounds may be provided in pharmaceutically acceptable compositions and used for the treatment of immunological or hyperproliferative disorders.
Abstract:
An adaptor can be provided for a meter of the type comprising a meter body and a detector. The meter body can be operative to process and display an analogue output signal generated by the detector indicative of a given input to the detector. The adaptor can comprise electrical connection means operative to form electrical connections with the meter body and with the detector. The adaptor can further comprise interface means operative to convert, in use, the analogue output signal from the detector into a standardised output signal for transmission to the meter body. The interface means can be operative to generate the standardised output signal from a plurality of detectors such that the adaptor can enable the meter body to be used with more than one detector.
Abstract:
A device for water quality measurement apparatus includes a plurality of multi-element arrays formed on a substrate, which are immersed in a solution for detecting electroactive elements or compounds present in such a solution. A wafer is located between first and second ‘O’ rings, with the first ‘O’ ring being disposed on a first side of the wafer and the second ‘O’ ring being disposed on a second side of the wafer, opposite to the first side. The first and second ‘O’ rings are arranged such that the wafer is exposed to substantially equal pressure on both sides.

Abstract:
A measuring apparatus comprises a detector device for detecting a variable to be measured, and a controller operative to control the detector device and generate an output signal indicative of the magnitude of the variable being measured. The detector device comprises a housing on which are mounted two Peltier-Seebeck detectors, the detectors being arranged on the housing such that only the first Peltier-Seebeck detector is exposed, in use, to the variable to be measured. The controller is operative to generate the output signal based on the output of the first Peltier-Seebeck detector and the output of the second Peltier-Seebeck detector so as to account for the effect of the ambient heat on each Peltier-Seebeck detector.
Abstract:
Toxicity measuring apparatus comprising a sample reservoir in which an aqueous sample to be tested is stored, a reagent reservoir, a diluent reservoir, a mixing chamber vented via a first valve to atmosphere through an air inlet tube which extends within the chamber towards a lower part thereof, second, third and fourth valves via which the sample, the reagent and the diluent respectively are fed selectively to the mixing chamber in accordance with the open/closed state of the said second, third or fourth valves, a toxicity detector cell fed with a mixture of the sample, the reagent and the diluent from the chamber, within which detector cell aqueous sample measurements are carried out, a linear pump and valve means, via which valve means the mixture is drawn through the detector cell from the chamber by the linear pump, or via which air in an upper part of the chamber is drawn from the chamber by the pump in accordance with the open/closed state of the said valve means, whereby for the purpose of mixing the sample, the reagent and the diluent, the said valve means is set so that air is drawn into the chamber via the inlet tube so as to bubble up through the mixture contained therein so as to effect mixing.
Abstract:
An active laser guarding system 1 comprises at least one screen 3 provided with at least two spaced apart conductors 7, 9 each defining a respective electrically conductive path that is electrically separate from the other. The screen 3 comprises material, at least between the two conductors 7, 9, which is arranged to carbonize when struck by a laser beam to form a further conductive path 19 which extends between, and electrically connects, the two conductors 7, 9. The system 1 further comprises a detector 15 operative to detect the further conductive path 19 so formed, the detector 15 being operative to generate a laser deactivation signal response to detecting the further conductive path 19.

Abstract:
An apparatus for reconstituting dried bacteria includes a first reservoir for the storage of reconstituting solution, a pump via which the reservoir is coupled to one of a pair of hollow needles arranged side by side in operative association with an apparatus for raising or lowering the pair so that in use they can be lowered to pierce a closure bung of a container in which bacteria are sealed under vacuum, the one needle being effectively longer than the other of the two hollow needles so that consequent upon lowering of the pair, the one needle passes through the bung before the other effectively shorter of the two needles. The shorter of the two needles is coupled to a second reservoir for the transfer thereto, in use of the apparatus, of reconstitution solution from the first reservoir together with bacteria from the container.
Abstract:
A spinal immobilisation apparatus has a harness for immovably securing to the torso of a person and a separate head support of collarless construction for mounting about the head of a person. Releasable connection allows the head support to be adjustably secured on the harness in relation to the shoulders and back of the wearer. The harness configuration allows ready access to the wearer's chest area. Elastication allows the cheat to expand during breathing. The head support is of open-faced, open-topped structure having rigid side walls hingedly connected to a rigid rear wall.
